I have lived both places. Houston with all of its warts is better. LA traffic slays. I am glad that I do not live there anymore. Now if one could afford to live in La Jolla ...
Actually no I am not overweight and not living in Houston, Tex-Mex is one of the things I certainly miss most. Jackass?
You're momma blows. JK. You ain't kidding. I live in Pacific Beach and the area isn't too bad. Lots of women here. Again though, LA does suck. Hard. You would have to pay me quite a bit to live there.
I think if you have money, LA is probably nicer than Houston, in every aspect except raising your kids to not be star-****ing, club-hopping junkies. But if you're poor, I guess a smaller town means lower prices, smaller ghettos, and less gangs? Can a person get a house in LA or surrounding area for less than $300,000? I assume it's cheaper than SF, but I wonder.
Okay...I am not too familiar with the LA area. But when I say LA, I mean Culver City, Manhattan Beach, Malibu, etc. Is that not considered LA? Either way. Driving 6 hours from LA = Vegas, Tahoe, San Diego, San Francisco, Mexico?., etc Driving 6 hours from Houston = Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans. Big difference.
I gotta tell ya, I think about midwestern cities like Chicago, Milwaukee or St. Louis, I just see a big sports bar.
LA couldn't be more overrated. It's no Detroit, but I would need to be offered a massive raise to even consider it. Nice weather, ugly city.
ugly city?! I mean..every city has its "ugly parts" but I can assure you one thing, Houston is uglier.

I love Houston and it will always be my home, but LA is an awesome city, too. If I could find a job there right now, I'd move there in a heartbeat. Me and two friends are actually trying to move to LA sometime next year. It's paradise for young men entering their 20s. Went last year for a graduation trip...didn't want to leave.
I'm thinking about moving to LA soon. I'm going to Film school here in Houston, and although its good...the job opportunities aren't nearly as great compared to well...Hollywood. I did think about going to Austin...but I've also lived in Houston my entire life. So I would love to move out of state, and actually live a little while I'm young. (I'm about to be 22 btw) So maybe things don't go well, and find out that I hate it...I can always come back home. At least I would have tried, and I'm sure I'll learn from my mistakes. Anyone have advice on relocating to LA? The school I want to attend is actually in North Hollywood...but I have no clue what area of town is good to live in...
i voted for LA as it has been my home for the last three years. I hated it at first but in the last year it has grown on me. I feel like I have take advantage of the city enough to call myself a local. yup. I'm spoiled by the weather too. it's ridiculous. when it dips below 50 it's a freaking disaster. it is sunny 330+ days out the year and we complain when it rains for three days straight. I'm obsessed with earthquakes. I hate the traffic and transit situation but enjoy being able to drive to Vegas or San Diego, the Bay Area or the Sierra Nevada Mountains. i repeat, the driving situation is awful.
Yeah, in the surrounding areas not East LA or the ghetto. It wouldnt be the nicest house or location, serviceable all around (Long Beach, Fullerton, La Habra, etc) I'm close to LA (in Orange County). I've gotten over the "Houston is my real home" thing. But its getting to be very overrated for the common guy in the LA area. If you're a guy who pays attention to political news and legislative procedures, you'd think LA was a hellhole underneath the fault lines.
LA is never the correct answer to a better city question, regardless of what city you're comparing it to.
