I was going to call you when I got there!! I can't wait, I am so ready to get out of Kentucky for a while. Thanks for all the recommendations. Those recommending the Getty, about how long would you set aside to visit it? 2 or 3 hours? I may be able to do that in the morning before all the rest of my friends get in (they probably won't be as into the idea as I am)
Half a day. There is a nice restaurant there to eat lunch at, and you will probably want to check out the gift shop.
I thought the $6 burger at Carls Jr was good. I got the Jalepeno $6 burger. I also thought Mario Batalli's joint, Mozza was great!
If you are staying near Universal bring some shorts. It is nearly 100 degrees right now. But be prepared because in the evening it will cool down quite a bit. Definitely try Fatburger as well. Order a shake if you like them. They are the best. There is a Fatburger not too far from where you are staying in North Hollywood. How long are you in town for? If you are here over the weekend make reservations for ASSSSCAT 3000 at the UCB, it's cheaper than a movie. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the show starts. A couple doors down is Birds which is a good place to grab a bite to eat. It's right across from the Scientology center in Hollywood. Rodeo drive on a Sunday will be fine. If you are going from your place you may want to drive down Laurel Canyon. It's a cool drive. Do try the Farmer's market. It's great. I don't really know that many sports bars, but there should be some in North Hollywood or Studio City close to where you are staying. Mario Batali's place is great pizza. If you just go to the pizza part and not the restaurant you shouldn't have to make reservations. If you have other interests like hiking or whatever ask away about that as well.
There are actually two Getty museums. You want to do the one in Malibu. The other one is much closer to where you are staying, but not as great. EVen if you don't like the art the architecture, and grounds are great.
Thanks I was looking at the details for the Getty Center museum rather than the Villa in Malibu. I knew that yall would have some good advice.
the getty center is nice its really about the architecture there and their floral gardens are really nice. not sure what exhibits they have right now i went there about 2 months ago and they were supposed to change exhibits either beg of sept or end of sept.
