Sam I Am is playing better. It is probably a non factor as Cassell will get voted and Kobe won't play. It will probably be SF and Sam or SF and ???? anyhow. You'll all get to see SF at the two with a true point.... ;)

This would be his best chance, this year, and its still highly unlikely that hell make it.

Heres who he has in front of him, who I think are having comparable or better years in the WC:

    Kobe (will be voted in)
    Sprewell
    Finley
    Richardson
Maggette (again, not sure if he is seen as a SF or SG)

In the end, I think these are your WC all-stars: Kobe, Steve, Sam, Nash and Spree.

That being said, it amazes me that people still want Cat traded. His all around game this year has been the glue that has held this team together. He has been the most consistant player.
Even guys like Lenard, Manu and Lenard have #s that are far off from Cats.

There is no doubt we would be a much worse team without him this year. Its really sad that some people can't or refuse to see that.

And Kobe will probably be out so it will go to Maggette or Finley

Maggette is a SF, so he wont get a guard spot. (just checked the ballott after my last post)

Honestly, I think Richardson might get the nod over Finely if it came down to it. Hes have a pretty darn good season, even though his team stinks.

It is great that SF is a starter in the All Star game. For years we (Houston fans) complain about the lack of respect for our team & players. This is payback. I vote for every Rocket that is on the ballot. Matter of fact I voted 5 times. :D

THIS is that fine line between fair criticism and hating...

fair criticism: Man, Steve played out of control last night with those 7 turnovers!

hating: I don't want to see Steve in the all star game because I think he sucks...

Well, guess what, he's gotten over 727,000 votes, with maybe...maybe 25% of those coming from the Houston area. That means that there are probably over 500,000 people across the country that DO want to see him in the all star game, so feel free to watch Queer Eye For the Straight Guy or something while the rest of us enjoy an entertaining basketball game...

You can look at it like that OR look at it how i see it, for the frist time ever he isn't playing his ISO game and jacking up as many shots. he is acctly looking to pass the ball frist now on, true his game is stuggling mightaly but he is trying 2 be a real point. What does this have 2 do w/ the all-star game? Well steven can say, "even though im not mr. 30 points a night i can still make the all-star team by passing the ball more and looking for my team mates. i dont have to have a butt load of numbers to stay popular." Please think it through before you bash.

Cassell has averaged big numbers for years as a better "point guard". I don't think he necessarily is a better "allstar guard" though. The vote is for two guards - 1 or 2. Stockton had more assists but he wasn't a better allstar either.

The vote is a popularity contest anyhow... You don't see Sam on the TV ads like Steve and that hurts his chances....

actually, steve's effort last night put him back on top for one of the league's most important statistics....

Technical fouls, way to go steve, your back to back techs in washington and boston put you right back on top!

Hell ya I've been voting for him, I've voted for him and Yao atleast 15 times. What the hell is wrong some of ya'll? He's a Rocket, Yao's a Rocket, Cat's a Rocket, thats all ya'll need to know, you should support your Rockets every chance you get.

The All-Star game should be the least of your concerns, it's a game where the fans get to see who they want and that's it. V. Carter was hurt all last season and he was still voted to the starting lineup (which he gave to MJ), my point is that it is purely for entertainment purposes and it's so much fun to watch. Especially when we were the only team w/ 2 starters.

    Support Your Rockets!!

I think it will be fun to watch more than the "66-70" point games

this is a really good point. I have been thinking Steve didn't deserve to go to the all-star game, but this has changed my mind. If the fans vote for him, then he deserves it. But then, why not have the whole all-star team voted for by the fans?

Also, I still worry about Steve getting a false sense of accomplishment. Hopefully, JVG can do something about this.

I also think it would help if announcers, fans, media, etc. talked more about the ALL NBA team players. As it is, this honor definitely is way behind the all star game. I'd bet that, given a choice, Steve would rather be an All-star then all-NBA. For that matter, many players probably would. How many times do you hear of contract bonuses for making the all-star team? What about the all-nba team? less, I'd bet.

What the hell is wrong with being happy that the Rockets have some representation on the team? I've voted for steve, cat, and Yao.

No they don't deserve it, but being a fan of the Rockets, I would love to see it.

I guess I can understand though .. many of you are not Rockets fans ... but I will say no more

This is also a good point. I think it's up to JVG to spin it this way. There's a problem, though- he could say something like, "I'm doing fine, I'm an all-star. I don't need to improve any more." Which, I think we'd all agree, is not true.

I would argue that, if the all star game is as important to Steve as we all think it is, not making the team one year would be the best motivation he could have to improve. What "improvement" means to Steve will forever be a point of debate, I'm sure.
