Hayward will be making identical money to Harden and more money than Steph Curry. Solid deal, Hornets! Have fun being the 8th seed again.

If Miami they keep James (and therefore a championship caliper team) and offer Bosh $20M/year for 5 years (and therefore more money than our offer), do you think Bosh walks away from that?

Lebron and Parsons are in totally different leagues in terms of choosing his team. His goal is to build his legacy, not finding a contract.

If we make Parsons a FA next year, we can simply outbid other teams with higher pay-raise and the extra year. Star players may walk away from that, but only if they can find much better chances at winning. Role player almost never walk away from that.

Anyway, it's all useless talking now.

Thanks for the link. I think I got the answer.
Basically Rockets do him a solid. It does no good to the team unless Parsons is loyal to the team and re-signs for below market rate. Let's hope that is the case.

"Also, from a pure numbers standpoint, it is unlikely that the Rockets could save enough money over the course of a new deal with Parsons signed in 2014 — either with Houston or in an offer sheet with another team — versus one he signs as an unrestricted free agent in 2015 to justify foregoing the opportunity to keep Parsons at his currently-scheduled $964,750 salary for 2014-15. Remember, if the Rockets decline their team option, Parsons would still pocket $624,771 from Houston (which would count against the cap) on top of whatever he could get in free agency.

However, if the Rockets are confident that Parsons would work with them on a reasonable long-term deal without bolting as a free agent, their show of good faith may be reciprocated, to everyone’s advantage."

I think the reason a team hasn't offered Parson's yet is that they know he has a planned return to Houston at some point. Regardless of the Bosh deal, I think he returns at a sizeable contract. This team will pay the tax.

If anything I like this. For one thing, it sends a message to all the stars that are being told to "take less to win." Players like Bosh can't possibly be looking at Heyward getting the max and thinking he should be getting the same amount as a perennial all-star.

As for Parson, who cares? If someone offers him the max, they offer him the max. The Rockets are going to match. If they don't, then why did they make him a RFA in the first place? Is Morey so dumb he couldn't even anticipate this possibility?

I'm sure there must be some understanding between Parsons and the Rockets that they'll ultimately give him a fair contract. But, that can only extend so far. If a team comes to him with a max offer but tells him he must sign on Day 1 or they'll retract it, he'll sign it. He's not going to pass on a $60m contract from a bottom-dweller so that he can contend with the Rockets for $40m. It'd be an albatross contract he can't live up to before the ink is even dry, but he'd be a fool to pass on it anyway.

Will a team make such an offer? That they'll make a Day 1 ultimatum is assured. But, I don't know if there's another team that will offer that kind of money. The Hornets will be tied up for 3 days with their offer to Hayward. Utah wouldn't make an offer like that to Parsons when they can just match on Hayward. Dallas says they aren't offering anyone the max. The Bulls could give him an offer if they strike out on the bigger fish, but would they really offer him the max? The 76ers want to continue to suck a while longer. The Suns perhaps could make a big offer. Maybe the Wizards are dumb enough to make a max offer. At the end of the day though, I think Parsons waits on the Rockets before accepting reasonable offers, and I don't think there are many teams remaining that will make out-of-the-market offers now that the Hornets are out.

For all we know, Parsons and the Rockets have an unofficial agreement.

That take it leave it 1 day offer will likely end in a response from Fegan of get ****ed, like maybe literally that. You don't pull that on the power agents.
