is there another team out there desperate enough to offer such a contract to a similar player? i think the hornets are starving for talent are at this point are willing to overpay. not sure the teams interested in chandler would act like that (mavs, lakers). i'm sure chandler's camp will draw a comparison and ask for it, but the real truth lies in the market. will he find any takers at that price besides the hornets? probably not.

100% wrong. Morey will match anything Parsons receives after the third star is signed. If there is one thing we've learned is that a big 3 is not good enough without solid role players. And Parsons is as solid as it gets. We should all be hoping and praying that Lebron goes to the Cavs. Then we sign and trade with the Heat for Bosh likely just giving up DMo and maybe Covington and a pick. Lin to the Heat or a third team. You go over the cap to resign Parsons and then use the MLE and BAE like Riley intended on guys like McBob. You also retain Jones and the NOP pick!

It's perfect you are capped out for the next 4 years or so buts that's your window anyway so who gives a flip?

It all comes down to LBJ and Parsons wants to be part of that scenario I just outlined. Happy times indeed!

Why do people feel the need to create misleading and pointless threads like this?

To be fair, it's not like the Jazz have been on national TV.

Saw thread title and was hoping we'd extended Lin for the max. Damn you Carl for getting my hopes up.

Maybe Morey wouldn't mind shelling out a max deal to a role player, just maybe... But would Les go for that? Houston's never been cheap but I don't remember ever actively initiating a max contract for what we knew ahead of time would be a role player.

We've overpaid guys before whom we thought would be stars, sure. But I think this would set a new precedent.

Hayward is a much better prospect in my opinion than Parsons.

Where I think Parsons has mostly reached his potential, Hayward still has room to grow and develop his game (much better athleticism, plays both wing positions.) Paying Parsons a max deal basically means you're paying face dollar for his production.

You pay Hayward the max because you hope he becomes a 25/5/5 player as the second option.

If the salary cap is going up to 80 million in 2016 then max for Parsons now would be a deal. He would be overpaid in the beginning and underpaid at the end as long as his production remains the same.

If Parsons gets a max offer and before we sign anyone else, Morey needs to let him walk.

Hayward is a scrub, you know who should be pissed off? Monta Ellis, opted out last year and now scrubs are getting max deals.

This minus the name calling. This thread should be locked, imo.
