Even if Mayweather and Pacquiao were to fight, it would be a disappointing match. Mayweather would win by tapping and dodging for 12 straight rounds. He is too fast for Pacquiao.

honestly man, i couldnt care less about that fight...UNTIL i saw that interview...wow!!! That was great. I mean that was real REAL trash talk. The dudes genuinely hate each other. They were dead serious and you could cut the tension with a knife.

Will definitely look into watching that match.

Probably. But Pacquiao is strong. I wonder if Floyd can shoulder roll those punches. Mosley said Pacquiao's really strong.

Pacquiao will have a huge reach disadvantage like Marquez did against Floyd, though. Marquez couldn't even get near Floyd. Floyd's secret is that monster 6' wingspan.

I agree it would be a horrible fight. Mayweather's defensive style would suck to watch with a fighter like Pacquiao. I think Manny would win but it would be a horrible fight.

I think Mayweather knows it and that's why he doesn't want to fight Manny.

This is the reason why I'd bet on Floyd if they ever fight. He's got so many advantages - size, height, reach, quickness and he can counterpunch like Marquez. Drug testing after the fight is fair enough.

Why Manny Pacquiao could be overtaken as Freddie Roach's top boxer

I disagree that Floyd can counterpunch like Marquez. That is what Marquez entire boxing style is based on. Mayweather is more of a defender, who just picks his opportunities. It's different than being a counterpuncher.

Counterpunch is synonymous to defend and attack. Their difference is Floyd is very picky when to attack while Marquez does it frequently.

SamFisher is also a great counterpuncher here if you will.

There is a slight difference. Marquez actually throws in combinations, while Floyd does a lot of pop shots and will throw one or two punches at a time.

People that think it will be a replica of the marquez fight are mistaken. This is what makes boxing great. No two fights area the same. Many factors come into play if this fight happens.

Yes, it can be boring if Floyd plays it safe and dances around him all night. Before the Ortiz fight, i was one of those people that said it could be boring. But after Floyd's offensive performance against Ortiz, I'm more intrigued. He actually brought the fight to ortiz, even letting his hands at one point. So we could see an entertaining Floyd in the ring.

I still think Manny is the only one, his size that can beat Floyd. Anything can happen in the world of boxing. Remember, people said that Foreman would kill Ali. Wrong. People said that Maidana would murder Morales. Wrong. And then people said a 38 year old Marquez would get blasted away by Manny. Wrong again. Stranger things have and will happen. Floyd could be schooling Manny for six rounds and then Manny land a punch that changes the whole fight.

    My dream May 5th card:
    Pacquiao vs Mayweather
Marquez vs Morales/Khan/Bradley (any will do)
    Nonito Donaire vs Abner Mares
    Brandon Rios vs Robert Guerrero

It's perfect. It plays off the Cinco de Mayo theme and has Golden Boy vs Top Rank.

Yeah with a mega fight like Pac and Mayweather, the undercards better be stacked...

Yeah the Ortiz fight definitely showed more offense by Mayweather, but I think if he goes that offensive against Pacquiao it will play into Manny's hands.

Of course since it is boxing, you are right there is no sure fire outcome. I'm just guessing as much as anyone else is about what the fight would look like.

I will say the fact that Mayweather has never shown he's serious about wanting to fight Pacquiao makes me doubt his ability to win.

I know I'm a bit late to the conversation, but oh well.
I'll have to go back and watch the fight as I DVR'd it, but here's what I recall...

    Marquez vs. Pacquiao:
I don't think Manny felt like he was losing, if he did he would have been more risky towards the later rounds to go for a knock out, or at least a knock down.

Same for Marquez right? His corner kept telling him he was winning, and for at least the 11th and 12th rounds, he fought like it. It was his fight to win, and he let it slip away.

I wasn't scoring the fight myself, but my intuition was it was tied after 10 rounds.

    Mayweather vs. Pacquiao:
I think Mayweather's skill is outstanding and he picks his opponents apart to where it demoralizes them. He's also not invulnerable, and we saw that recently in his fight against Mosley. I think Pacquiao's style could catch Mayweather. I think that's why everyone wants to see the fight. Manny is explosive and on the flip side Mayweather can pick him apart if Manny is not careful. Manny was careful against Marquez, he respected him.

Makes me think Mayweather and Pac would go kind of the same way. Manny the aggressor, gettin pieces of May, and May would fight a defensive fight.

That will never, ever happen unless they charge 5x the usual amount.

I haven't said enough about Manny's technical skills last fight. It was amazing. For all that was said about Marquez' great counter-punching, what kept him from doing that all night was Manny's controlled offense. That's the first time I was impressed about Manny for something other than his power. I genuinely that and the fact he outlanded Marquez won the fight.

There are so many good fights that will happen. I really have little interest in Mayweather. Mayweather against some random guy doesn't interest me because Floyd's fights aren't exciting.

Marquez, Martinez, Donaire (especially donaire), pirog (if anybody ever fights him) Julio jr. I love watching Julio jr fight.

I'll say this, if Pacman vs Mayweather were on the same night, hypothetically speaking, as pirog vs julio jr. You know the fight I'm watching? Julio jr. pirog. These are two of my favorite fighters and this fight needs to get made asap.

Even Alvarado vs Prescott II I'd pay to see. This was an outstanding fight and my fight of the year so far.
