Didn't you visit Israel? You might want to get a second passport...or you will have trouble entering the country.
What's the best way to get to Abha? Seems like quite a drive. I've been here for a few days now. Not a whole lot to do, but the food is really good and the hotel is excellent (Park Hyatt).
BUMP: Still in Jeddah for work. After the Nimr Al-Nimr/Iran debacle, followed by the Hurghada hotel attack in Egypt, and now the Istanbul attack... For our politically inclined poster here -- should I be worried? I'm staying at a western (American) hotel chain here.
I wouldn't visit those countries and give their governments any of my hard earned money until they give their citizens fair treatment. DD

Any time you are staying at a western hotel chain in that region in this day and age there is always risk. Make sure you register with the Department of State STEP program https://step.state.gov/step/ to get real time security and safety updates and guidance texted to your phone or email. Be aware of your surroundings and situational awareness as well. That being said, I'm sure you will be fine.
I still have family in the country. They are about ready to leave, and come back to TX after working there since '88. One of the company's buses (Aramco) was attacked last week. Stopped at gun point but no one was hurt, they tossed some small explosives on the bus to burn it up. Protesting the killing of the pro reform cleric.
