how can you say that? bosh is a 3rd option in miami with limited opportunities and a slower paced offense. just the same way people thought amare couldn't do what he can do now without nash. it's funny to see people make assumptions when the circumstances are completely different. bosh in NY could arguably be better b/c he's a better midrange shooter and rebounder. both are porous defensively, but it seems bosh is a little better as he has shown improvements this year. during the summer, it was pretty unanimous that bosh is the better player.
umm I never thought Bosh was the better player. Bosh had 7 years by himself to prove if he could do what Amare was doing now and he couldnt. This NY team does not have better talent than Toronto did over 7 years. Bosh was the man on that team and he couldnt win. Bosh is just not dominating enough offensively and doesn't have the attitude to do so. Let's not forget right before his injury Amare was putting up 40 points a game against Duncan in that playoff series. I don't think Bosh could ever do that. Bosh is a great player and he puts up good numbers but he's not the go to guy on any team. He reminds me a lot of our very own Kevin Martin. Put's up great numbers but you simply cant depend on him to close out the game or take over. Also if you were a informed basketball fan it would not be a surprise to you what Amare is doing right now. People just loved saying Nash made him but I watch the Suns game and I saw that was clearly not the case.
first of all, i was one of the few who said amare doesn't need nash b/c i know how versatile he is offensively. so i'm really not surprised. second of all, the knicks have more talent than toronto (and a better offensive coach - look at felton's rise this year). felton, gallinari, chandler are much better than whatever bosh had in toronto. and mind you, this team plays at a much faster pace so amare has more opportunities (and you can argue inflation of offensive stats too). we don't know how the year is going to end so let's not judge amare's as the #1 player by just 20 something games. just like we shouldn't judge how he struggled the first 12 games. can he keep it up? i still think bosh is a better player than amare. he was just surrounded by soft white players and a bad coach in toronto. i'm sure he would do great in NY under d'antoni too.
Amare>>>>>>Bosh. Even before the trade!!! Bosh is a great pf, just not better. Amare has developed a great shot. Also, Amare is a lot humbler imo as well. Every time Bosh dunks he acts like it was some awesome dunk. All he does is camp underneath the basket and do a reverse slam... Amare actually cuts through traffic and powers to the rim. Amare's defense is a lot better this year as well.
you do know that bosh was the #3 free agent this past summer after lebron and wade right? there's a reason for that. it's very easy to say amare > bosh now b/c of what has transpired. fans are too into "what have you done for me lately"
Does it matter that they were white? Would things have really been better in Toronto if Bosh had been surrounded by soft black players?
Bosh is a great player no doubt. An allstar. But also dumb. He said he wanted to be the center of a team. Now he's Lequits and Wades b**ch. I like Bosh. A lot. This was an Amare thread that went horribly wrong.
The people commenting at the start of this thread sure look like fools now. How does Amare's ass taste? REMINDER: The Rockets could have had Amare for Shane freakin' Battier and Luis Scola...basically a free upgrade from an above average PF to an elite one since Battier is worthless and probably has negative value at his salary.
He didn't make his physical, if i remember correctly AND I strongly doubt he would've stayed in Houston; he had other plans. He would've been a rental, just like Melo, if we acquired him. Anyway- I may be mistaken.. but that's what I'm hunching over right now.
I know what you're saying but even folks that ranked Bosh as the number 3 overall free agent has said he's basically been a bust. Bosh has skill but he doesn't have the leadership nor heart to be an overall top talent. There's no reason why this guy couldn't be averaging at least 2 blocks a game and at least 10 boards a game. Scoring would be tougher for him because of Wade and LBJ but he should have been able to be a presents on the defensive end which he hasn't all season.
Who cares if you are the number 3 free agent? You do know that Joe Johnson got the biggest pay day of last years free agent class right? It doesnt mean anything. Felton was a decent PG but now he's putting up all star numbers you can credit the system but you can also credit amare for making him better. That is what good players do. Bosh did not make anyone around him better. Bosh is a good player but he can not be the man and go to guy while Amare can be that player. Also Bosh's teammates the past 7 years were not all that bad. I wouldnt necessarily say the current NY team has better talent. Bosh's teammates -Bargnani -Calderon -Turkoglu -Shawn Marion -Jermaine Oneal -Anthony Parker -TJ Ford -Delfino -Jalen Rose -Vince Carter and lets not forget Rafer Alston and I'm Mike James bi*ch So yeah I know some of the players above had injury issues but Bosh had his fair shot of at least making the playoffs and making some noise but he didnt. It's just not who he is. Outside of Raymond Felton the current knicks squad looks pretty thin on talent also.
bosh has never played defense in toronto. and if you watch him now, he's improving. by the end of the year, bosh should be a pretty decent defender. and he's finally rebounding. he was always a good rebounder. i think he just had to adjust to his new role. by the end of the year, bosh will be huge for the heat. he's finally figuring out his role
I would have to agree as of right now. Overall, I think Amare would have been a great deal for Houston. His knee issues were one of the main reasons why I didn't want him but he's a beast on the offensive end. The biggest knock I have on him is his rebounding skills. There's no reason why he shouldn't average 10 boards a game. I know he's been on tear as of late but I want to see where his stats are at the end of the year.
i'm going to stop b/c obviously you don't watch much basketball and just go by names. chandler and gallo are HUGE. why do you think the knicks are hesitant to involve those 2 in any trades last year? they're young and have a ton of talent. felton is doing well b/c of d'antoni and not amare. that system is tailor made for a PG (he's shooting the same % as he was in charlotte but the pace is faster and he has more offensive options to pass to). please, watch a knicks game and don't go by highlights. and no the knicks are HORRIBLE defensively. amare may have had 2 highlight blocks this year at the end of the year but he's been porous defensively. that could be due to their pace, but their defense needs a lot of improvement if they want to continue to play well. outside of calderon (who's now a bench player) and bargani, the rest is not good. vince was there when bosh wasn't a star yet. hedo? seriously? he has sucked since he left orlando (he is mediocre now). parker? rose on his downside? marion was there for freakin' 27 games. c'mon now, this is ridiculous. joe johnson? he got his money but he was like #6 or 7 FA. he got his money b/c atlanta is stupid. no other team was going to offer him max money or anywhere close to it. again, judge bosh by the end of this year. stop going by "what have you done for me lately" mantra like all general sports fans go by.
Don't believe the hype young man. The suns wanted to dump babosa and alot more stuff than what you think. The suns wanted landry before he was traded, shane for his contract, chase, brooks, and picks.
If Amare can keep putting up scoring numbers like he's an in his prime Michael, the Knicks will do just fine....
I'm not going by what have you done for me lately but what have you done for me in the past. Amare has been deep into the playoffs Bosh has yet to sniff the playoffs. Bosh has shown nothing in his 7+ years in the league other than putting up great numbers. He's a great player but not a superstar but he got paid like a superstar. I would put Bosh on the same level as Joe Johnson.
