While Nash will be 40 in a few years, he is still passing out dimes above his career average but less than last year.

Amare is in his late 20s and should be at his peak. His FG% is worse than his rookie year. He scores alot of points, but it's on forced shot attempts. It ends up being a rebound for the opponent, because he misses about 55% of the time and grabs only 2 offensive boards each game.

Amare has been grossly overrated since his knee operation...You can clearly see he isnt the same athlete although he gets an occasional dunk on someone...But he isnt as explosive with his moves anymore...while his jumper has improved he still was never (to me) a franchise type player...Why the KNicks gave him max money?? Well because they are the Knicks.........also his defense is pathetic...you can tell he doesnt want to expend energy on the defensive end for the sake of his offense....

Stoudemire is not dominant without Nash. Nash used to spoon feed him over & over. Now that he has to create his own shot, because he doens't have a "go to" move he will not be as consistent. This is a by product of playing with Nash so long which actually stunted his development because he never had to get a "go to" move. Nash ran the show, Amare learned how to shoot a jumper off the pick and roll & he was able to use his freakish athletic prowess to finish plays that Nash set up. Believe me HE MISSES STEVE NASH!

He is not nearly as efficient. And won't be.

Amare also thrived when he could play center in a smallball situation (anchored by Marion). He was already quick for his size, but being able to face stiff centers out on the perimeter (with Marion drawing the 4 out on the weakside) with no one left to man the paint? Easy money.

Makes for poor low post defense on the other end, but an impossible frontcourt to guard.

What'll be high comedy is if the Knicks go through a losing streak and have Amare to look to in the locker room as team captain.

Actually the Knicks are on a losing streak already (5 I think with the lost to us), and Amare has indeed taken up the leader role, as commented on by the NY broadcasters. If you notice he missed a ton of shots their last game because he was trying to make something happen.

As the leader, he acted just like he's gonna act. Force the issue, miss shots, get frustrated, and start complaining. If the Knicks can add Chris Paul, this will be a good move, but without a dominant spoonfeeder, the Knicks will long regret this one.

Of course Amare needs an elite PG. He went from playing with one of the game's best passing PG in Steve Nash to Felton....

Felton sucks. Honestly, Felton is overrated a bit. I knew from the start that Amare will struggle playing with the Knicks. He gets about 75% of his scoring from Nash's assists. Well, without Nash, he have to find a way to score on his own a lot more. Because Felton is not going to be dishing out 11-12 assist a game.

Look at Hakim Warrick, he improved tremendously by playing with Nash. Any athletic PF or C would love to play with Nash becaues he will make them look like stars. Amare would probably have the same scoring average but his FG % will drop and he will have to work so much harder to just score just about the same playing with Nash.

Just going by NY's game vs. the Rockets, they run far too many iso plays for Stoudemire with everyone else standing around. Maybe they were expecting double teams that never came, thanks to the Chuckwagon.

Then again, the Rockets used to do the same thing with Landry down the stretch, and it was pretty effective.

Also we have to realize that the Knicks is where careers go to die.

Marbury, Tmac(a lot of people thought he still had it), Francis...Carmelo should stay far far far away.

The other thing which strikes me (besides the tons of turnovers) is that his FG% is way, way down, and his TS% as a result. He has been incredibly inefficient.

    Scola is so much better!

its not just a elite pg, although that is most helpful and effective in dantonios system, its any other star or someone who cna be a catalyst on offense and take a lot of attention, even a not so great passer like monta ellis would amare to have enough room to work focus and dominate, he is not a sole no one option, he needs spacing to work and another star to keep attention away and the defense on their toes

Looks like we also need an all-star pg after all. Nash would do nicely by J Hill and Scola. Hill would have seven dunks per game, and Scola would likely score close to 30 ppg, and, if we could play a speck of D, we'd start wrecking shop.
