Forgo the memory upgrade on the 700m. Buy it outside cheaper. I'ts easy to upgrade. Just 2 screws and pop it in. I did it on my girl's 700M last night. And I don't think there is a 1.2 ghz option. The lowest should be either a 1.5 or a 1.6ghz. Get the extended battery option though. get the spare for 129 instead of the upgraded main for 99. You get 2 batteries total for only an extra 30 bucks.
I never bought a Dell. I heard too many problems with people I know. However, most of the people on this board are fond of them. I guess it's all a crapshoot.
You guys do understand that the G4 chip in an Apple is alot stronger than the chips intel uses? Basically now its if you want a PC or a Mac. But in the end that Apple is probably the more powerful computer. Come to think of it, I regret settling for a PC. Should have gotten that Apple.

As a casual user you will probably never use the A wireless mode so save the money and go with the 2200.
I was choosing between a Powerbook and a Dell/PC notebook. I ended up getting an Inspiron 6000 (I'm typing this post on it as a matter of fact). Looking back, the Powerbook would have been a big big mistake for me. The best choice is the best computer for you. It's not about MHz, RAM, etc. My Inspiron 6000 lets me do far more than the Powerbook would have. One day though... I may end up buying a Powerbook yet.
get the first and cheaper option, youll never find yourself in a position to use the "a" part of your adapter...
Go with the Dell...the Apple is prettier and may sound better, but in the end you will find that majority of the programs you use and the programs your friends are using are PC based. Ofcourse you could always use virtualPC on the Apple, but you don't wanna know how slow that runs. Last year my university gave us the option of buying a Dell laptop or an Apple Powerbook...about 10 out of 90 people bought an Apple, and about 8 of them wish they had gone with the Dell. I'm not knocking Apple, but it's uses are limited.

Other than games, most everything that one would need to use on a PC are readily available on Macs. I was the biggest mac critic till i actually used one, and was stuck with one for 3 years. Now, i realize what a precious tool i had and i didnt appretiate. You get everything from Office, to Photoshop, to Firefox, to Aim on Mac. and many times the mac version is even better
