You might want to revise your shopping cart (if purchasing online customized) with the nvidia graphics card, they might try to rip you off

    It probably comes standard.

To Op, if you can afford to wait 4-5 months, you can get Windows 7 with it. Otherwise, the computer looks pretty solid. Without knowing the price though, we don't know if it's a good deal or not.

It'll cost around 2000, and its from Dell. I've had my old computer for around 10 yrs and just figure its about time to upgrade. I plan on keeping the old one for internet usuage and this one will be used primarily for work related activities as well as the occassional game and movie. I figure I get a blue ray player since thats where movies will probably go. I try to keep my computer for as long as possible so i usually try to go a lil more out there in terms of the processor and RAM.

If you got that in mind, don't get vista. Microfridge posted above saying 7 is coming soon.

    And 64 bit? Why?

Uh, my computer cost me 850 including a 22" LG widescreen monitor about a year ago.
2.4 core 2 Quad core intel
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
    8800 GT video card
    500GB HD 7200rpm

yours should come out to less than $1000. don't buy unless you can get it under that.

The monitor, MS Office, and the warranty are adding quite a bit. I'm actually going to say, with it spec'd out to the nines like that one is, plus a 24" monitor, $2000 is about what its going to cost and its actually not too bad of a price.

You could probably downgrade quite a bit and still be able to successfully play any games coming out anytime soon if you are worried about performance that much.

Also, I'm pretty sure he couldn't get a system with that new of a processor and all the specs he has for under $1000.

Unless you are actually going to use this PC as your media center, I'd lose the Bluray, that's adding 200-300, right there.

You could go downgrade a chipset or two and save another $200 easy.

Its for home use and a Studio Q9650. Its a bit of an upgrade over what cnet recommends on their website a Dell Studio Desktop Computer (Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200, 750GB HDD, 6GB)

I dont mind paying extra for better but if i'm simply paying to say I have a more powerful computer than the next guy then yea I dont want to be stupid.

By the way thanks so far on the advice its helping my decision greatly.
