Those preseason games will determine if Dorsey will have a play time or not. We will know this soon. Heard that Cato got a big contract just based on a few preseason games.

I was surprised myself when Morey took Dorsey.

    DeAndre Jordan
    Mario Chalmers
    Luc Mbah a Moute
    Kyle Weaver
    Chris Doughlas Roberts

    All available at 33rd pick.

This is the guy they shouldve drafted, but since he was 20 and not 25 plus he was 7ft vs 6'6, he was passed on.

With a scoring machine like Chuck Hayes ahead of him, I can really see what you mean.

Chuck plays elite post defense at the NBA level. Dorsey does not and considering he has practically no NBA experience the odds of him being even close to Chuck defensively this season ( or next) are slim to none.

Every video I see of the Rox either in the weight room or at practice, Dorsey is always there. I don't question his work ethic and desire. Being a bust and injured are two different things. He'll eventually recover from his PF, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt before declaring him an Eddie Griffin.

I know Morey has gone on record saying he was disappointed with Dorsey's mental approach to basketball. I have no doubt the guy is a weight room addict judging by his build. Maybe he should have spent more time playing basketball than lifting weights. The other issue is half the comments you hear from him are about how he doesn't think he should have to do "rookie duties" or something similar that makes you believe he thinks respect should just be given to him as opposed to him earning hit.

The Rockets didn't "draft" Dorsey. The selected Nicolas Batum with the 25th overall pick, whom they traded to Portland for Darrell Arthur, then they quickly traded Arthur to Memphis for Donte Greene and Joey Dorsey. Greene was sent to Sacramento for Ron Artest.

Dorsey is hopefully going to be a good defensive player. He is a shotblocker, and has the length and body to be a great rebounder. This teams two biggest problems are size, and offensive firepower. Dorsey can help with the size by using his athletic ability, and length.

The point however, is that he doesn't need to be a good offensive player to get meaningful PT here. Chuck Hayes proves it.

    Haha - yeah.

Because Dorsey didn't even get on the court in our first pre-season game!!!1!1

Oh wait - we haven't even had a pre-season game yet

So he was our best player in summer-league, rebounding, passing and finishing in close.
AND he runs the court REALLY well (which is what we're looking to do this season)

So based on his outstanding summer league, we're all happy to say "Dorsey sux and won't play this year"!

I'm sure I've missed something somewhere - but let's see what happens vs the Spurs eh?

After have the one year rental of Artest they maybe should have stuck with Batum he looks like he's going to be a player for Portland. Even if that meant no 2nd round and no game 7 with the Lakers :(

yeah, i guess the hope may or not be misguided, but I wanted to have someone at the end of our bench that looked intimidating...I mean I know Budinger, followed by lowry, and brian cook is scary, but in the wrong way...

My point is the Dorsey has never shown himself to be the defensive player that Chuck is. It isn't as simple as be a good defender and you get playing time. Chuck is an elite defender who makes almost no mistakes on the court defensively and stays out of the way on offense unless he has a layup. He also happens to be the best passing post player the team has when he does end up with the ball on offense. He stops guard penetration, takes charges as well as anyone in the league and flat out disrupts opposing post players no matter where they catch the ball.

I don't see how anyone can watch Joey Dorsey and think he has a snowball's chance in hell of being the defender that Chuck Hayes is. It's almost as bad as the people who think Ariza can become 04-05 McGrady because both guys are tall and can jump high.

Yea, I thought the same thing since the season has started already and Dorsey's played terrible against all the other NBA teams. Geez. LOL

let's see what he can do first. I remember how he played in Memphis and I think if he could grab rebounds, block or alter shots, and do a little cleanup..basically what he did in preseason.. he could be our poor mans Ben Wallace clone. :D
