Well....you know that song that goes..... YAO MING...YAO MING...YAO MING...YAO MING...YAO MING...YAO MING.
Yeah I'd say that pretty well sums up my musical abilities and tastes. I'm a Chant Rapper. I can't get enough of it. I drive around listening to Stadium Rock to get into the groove.
The best way to find musicians, etc, is to hit some of the open mic nights around and jam with some people. I hit the Mucky Duck with my songwriting partner every few weeks. There are plenty around town. The music scene here is easy to get into.
OldmanBernie I'm somewhat tied in to the music industry here and abroad. What exactly are you looking for or to get involved with? Also for anyone who wants a spot where they can test out their music, there's this place called Industry Cafe (Rusk and 59/northbound side) that now has an open mic night. They just started it and it's on Saturdays I believe. Best bet would be to call them and ask more about it. I do know that they are calling it Singer, Song writer night. I checked it out last Saturday (?) and a few people go up there and played and/or sang.
Check out the following websites: www.spacecityrock.com www.houstonbands.net www.harmony-central.com (just go to the classifieds section and enter your Houston zip code in the musician search) www.handsuphouston.com (if you're an indie rocker) Another great way to get in a band quick (in Houston or any city) is to have a good PA.
Any kind of music. Went from indie rock to a mambo drum(?) last Saturday. If you can find their phone number, I suggest you call them. It's a nice place to check out
Bernie...if you can and want to sing the blues, there are a ton of open mike nights to choose from: Shakespeare's on Sunday nights The Hideaway on Tuesday nights The Big Easy on Wednesday nights Cosmo's Cafe on Thursday nights And if you run into a guitar playing drunk with a goatee, that's me!
Bad ass... Blues just happens to be my specialty. If you see an Asian guy who sings the blues, I'm the man.
