As I will soon be traveling to a country that is very high on censorship and where services such as Skype, Flickr, all domains from a certain other country, etc. are blocked, and as, aside from that trip, I would like to be able to access certain sites and services that only offer their site to users within their country, I would like to find a VPN provider that enables me to circumvent these restrictions.

    My criteria:

    1) Serious/trustworthy provider (nothing shady)
    2) Fast speed
    3) Ideally, I would like to be able to select session-by-session where I want to be seen as accessing the site from (e.g., if I use Zattoo and they will only show certain TV channels to me if they think I am accessing from Switzerland, I want to be able to give that impression, if I access a site in the USA that only shows their content to users from the USA, I want to be able to give that impression, etc.)

Are there any good providers out there that you could recommend?

    Thanks.

    P.S.:

By googling, I have so far found providers called www.blacklogic.com, www.banana-vpn.info, http://vpn-sh1.reliablehosting.com/strongvpn/, http://www.happy-vpn.com/ - not sure they all look very "professional".

Why don't you just say where you're going?

    Or is that 'censored' too?

Anything named "Happy VPN" is probably Chinese. I'd be wary of the Great Firewall. lol.

I'm going to Dubai. I wanted to avoid this turning into a political discussion, which is why I did not mention the name here.

Thanks, yes, that would be the best in terms of "data integrity", I guess, but it doesn't solve my other issue of wanting to access some content (regardless of where I am) that would only be accessible to users of certain countries (e.g. Hulu for US users, Netflix for US users, etc.). I might still do that anyway, in addition. Thanks.

Dubai pretty much blocked any and all VOIP services last year. Try getting a MagicJack and using it with a VPN.

That's pretty lame, more back-ass-wards than Saudi.

I signed up for a paid VPN solution. Will try it out and then report back. If I get arrested, Mathloom was behind it ;).

was in mid east for a couple of years. easiest would be Hotspot Shield. install it, itll open a page in ur browser n ull wait a few seconds for it to show youre connected. you dont have to use it for normal surfing and you wont want to, cos the speed will take a hit with it.

i think dubai blocks the hotspot shield download website. either download it before u go, or if u forgot to do that before u reach there, go to download.com and search for it and download off that site.
