Looking for a Plug in Hybrid - need some opinions

    What kind of car is she looking for (Compact, Sedan, SUV, Minivan, etc..)?

    Sort of smaller SUV - crossover, like a Honda CRV or Hyundai Tucson....

    There are only four or five options so I'd just check out youtube reviews of each (my personal go to is Alex on Autos). Basically your choices are:

    Ford Escape
    Kia Niro/Sorento
    Hyundai Tucson/Santa Fe
    Toyota Rav4
    Volvo XC60

    If you're just looking at straight efficiency (overall efficiency of both the gasoline and electric motors), Toyota wins hands down. And the ride is generally near the top. The big problem with Toyota is that the $7500 federal tax credit is going to phase out for them really soon (it might've already partially phased out by now).

    But in today's market, you might just have to make a decision based on what is available rather than what you want the most. But all of the above are great vehicles. But I'd recommend looking at youtube videos of the PHEV models for all of the above.
