I might be wrong, but I can't believe that there is not a ChickFila inside the loop. I would think that chicken sandwiches would be the only type of fast food the yuppie's inside the loop would be interested in eating.

Chick-Fil-A is a ridicuously difficult franchise to obtain. They only charge $5000.00 for a franchise fee and are VERY liberal after you start business. However, you have to be squeaky clean to even have a chance. I know I would not be given a franchise.

    Ok about the chikfila franchise..

Its close to 1 Million to build and setup that place...

4 times the amount I'm looking at :).... Also It is a very strict process in approvals.. Also I heard once you own one you cannot work anywhere else except at your own franchise.

Sorry Clutch Admins :( about not contributing.... I'll see if I can scrounge up some donating dollars..

See the reason I have access to that kind of money is because my dad wants me to start my life lol

I have 3 kids and bills piling up. I work in the IT dept for a fortun 10 company ( Yes its a gas company ) and it puts food and pays bills but doesnt build on my furture retirement.

Also I dream every single day of owning my own business and that working every single minute through blood and sweat would be worth it if I knew the returns would come back to me.

Or you could start a go-kart racing franchise, with a slogan of "Do you want a ride ride?!"

That Jimmy John's thing looks great.

Low overhead and high volume, I am going to go to the one by my office tomorrow on Congress Ave here in Austin and give a report.

The car wash idea that someone mentioned sounds like a good lead.

Or you could just pile the cash into futures commodities.....soybeans and lead.

No dude....you ride the kart with one hand on the wheel and the other with a bat in hand trying to decapitate the opposing racers as you pass them by ;)

Automated Convenience Stores. I read an article about this SmartMart guy and he said the intial cost for the first one was around 90k, which he recouped in three months.

Convenience Store News, September 15, 2003

Imagine a field trip to a convenience store. That's how some customers are describing their experience at the latest innovation in convenience store automation.
The new SmartMart store, which debuted in July in Memphis, Tenn., is testing the boundaries of automated convenience by combining a drive-through with a clerkless convenience store. Memphis entrepreneur and SmartMart Inc. President and CEO Mike Rivalto told Convenience Store News he has invested $9 million and more than 11 years developing the store and now he's ready to expand the concept and even take it national.
"This is a retailing venture that addresses customers' biggest needs: speed and convenience," Rivalto said. "Since we have very little in labor costs involved, we are also able to remain extremely competitive on price. Our biggest issue during this initial rollout phase is to attract customers and show them who we are and what we can offer."

I like Panera Bread. I don't remember seeing that many of them in Houston, but they are all over the place up here in Pittsburgh. They do a great business.

On SmartMart -- Check out this link. Go to Media and watch the video -- it starts out really bad, but it picks up -- I like the store idea. It is very, very cool. I wish they had this sort of stuff all around. Basically, it's a giant vending machine.

    Ok,

Just got back from Jimmy Johns and am impressed.

There are none in Houston, this is a REAL opportunity here, these places can make money and compete, I may have to invest myself.
