I know they have that good weed in Portland but this is just over the top. Seriously you really need to cut down on the reefer smoking there buddy.
we're not a good road team so i didn't think we would win game 5. hopefully we'll close it out in game 6 and go on to face the lakers.
HAHAHAHA these numnuts are gonna eat their words...we played crap game of course we are gonna lose....we didn't run the offense and we were still able to take a lead late in the fourth untill they hit some 3's. Not gonna play out like that in Clutch city and get ready for a 6th game blowout win by the rockets to finish the series
So is John Canzano a mind reader? Instead of using his psychic abilities to tell us why Artest didn't shower right away or why Yao was cranky maybe he should put his gift to better use in the CIA or in his police department solving unsolved cases.
We can rationalize this all we want: Its 3-2 going back to Toyota Center. We were the underdogs. Blah, blah, freakin blah. This team is NO LONGER THE UNDERDOG. And the fact is that its 12 f!cking years since we got out of this freakin round!!! With the team being so stupid from top to bottom, if I was a Portland fan, I would start planning for the Lakers. How the hell would you NOT be confident after watching someone name PRIZBILLUH and some dufus looking guy named Greg Oden continue to wear down the supposed "best center" by simply beating him to the spot and fronting him with no problems? Not to mention the IQ score of our guards! You guys sugar coat way too much. I want them to win. But lets be real here. The longer this goes, the worse it will get. Game 5 was right there. Now, they go game 6. Win or just don't show up for 7 because the mind will be playing tricks on them for the entire night leading into that game.
I actually went back and counted the phrase in the article, "Portland in 7?" and came up with 5 instances that the author used that phrase. It sure felt like I read that ridiculous attempt at humor more than 5 times. Look, what did you guys expect? Until we get out of the first round, there are always going to be crap like this. And even though I don't feel comfortable with this series until I see the final score of one of the next 2 games with Houston on top, I strangely feel that if we do have to play a Game 7, it isn't going to be a repeat of the Dallas series where we had our heads handed to us. It would help if we could score more than 15 points in the 4th quarter. Also, I have noticed that when the games are on NBA TV (which means I have not been able to see any of them because I don't live in Texas), that is when we lose. But Game 6 will be on TNT or ESPN (definitely not on NBA TV), so we will win. But I seriously doubt that any team would prefer to be down 3-2 and have to win their next 2 games including one on the road where they have YET to win compared to being up 3-2 and only having to win 1 out of the next 2 games with the first game being on your home court. That type of thinking is beyond mentally challenged...seriously.
Your post didn't make too much sense at all. Please state your points more clearly. Getting back to this article though, it's obviously written to boost the spirits of the Portland fans. Don't read too much into it. It's like a cheerleader posing as a sports columnist trying to inject a sense of optimism into the hometown readers. In reality though, as previous posters have said, we are right where we should be. We stole a game from them at their home court in game 1, and was also so close to beating them in game 2 in Portland. Really, if a few more balls bounced our way in game 2 (margin of 4 points), we would have won that and probably would have swept the series. Of course, games 3 and 4 in Houston were pretty close, but that's what home court advantage is for: giving the slight edge to the team playing at home. In a series where the two teams are so evenly matched (yes, the Rockets and Blazers are very close in terms of match-up quality), home court means a lot. I am confident that we can squeeze out game 6, and not even worry about game 7. And even if we did go to game 7, it's not that bad of a problem to have as fans. We get to see a best of 7 series go to the 7th game, and get to passionately root for our team. It's something that doesn't necessarily happen every year, and as life is pretty short, we gotta relish these moments. Thursday night baby, let's push all our collective mojo into the Toyota Center!
If the Blazer's win game 6, I have a very bad feeling about game 7. All the pressure will be on us. All of it.
all the pressure is on us to close it out because we know a game 7 on the road would be horrible for us. no way in hell we win that. we MUST finish this in 6. this will be very difficult because portland KNOWS they can win here. we barely won both games. this reminds of the 7 game series against utah. they got close and closer to beating us at home until they finally got us in game 7. if we don't finish this in 6, we aren't going to advance. time for some players to step the hell up (RON ARTEST)
So Artest skipped showering and immediatly started watching game film after the game huh? SO DOES RON SEE HOW MUCH WE SUFFER WHEN HE HAS THE BALL ON OFFENSE!?!?
Wait, so we have a 4 point lead in the fourth in their building. Then some stupid fouls and some silly turnovers, and they're a "lock" at home? lol I think one thing people should remember is that Game 3 and 4 were not as close as they seemed. We had comfortable leads in both games in the closing minutes. They had to start doing the foul, shoot 3s strategy. It just so happens that we did a miss a few free throws and they hit several threes. Kinda like Game 2. We only lost by 4, but that game was a little farther away than that. We got this ish.
But you see, there is NO WAY we will lose Game 6. We're at home. The Rockets could NEVER lose a playoff game at home....
Stop it Ima, you're making me all sweaty nervous. After twelve years of futility, I'm already not terribly confident about this - I don't need your help!!
Read the comments. Blazer fans are calling this article a "jinx." They're not cocky, but this columnist seems to be.
Lol...what a horrible article. YES, the Rockets have all the pressure on them. This is NOTHING new, Portland never had ANY pressure on them this ENTIRE series. They are just happy to have homecourt in the playoffs. For the Rockets it is a ENTIRELY different beast. He's right about the pressure. If we lose this series Adelman is probably fired, Artest is probably gone, and the only guy I could see as a 100% lock is Yao entering the 09-10 season. But it's this pressure why the Rockets will win this series. PRESSURE IS A GOOD THING. Whether the team can handle it or not remains to be seen, but you WANT that pressure, you NEED it. This team had the pressure of stealing a game in Portland, they did just that. This team had the pressure of winning BOTH home games to keep Homecourt JUST FOR THIS occasion, they did it.
I pray for a blowout...well, at least a 10pt win. I think getting out of the first round IS SO DAMN IMPORTANT that after this series, I will feel 50x more confident (even if its unjustified against the Lakers). I will freakin DIE if I see another 1st round collapse. This teams IQ better jump about 100 pts by Game 6!
Every should be treated like a must win. What's new? If he thinks Portland doesn't have anything to worry about, then he's not very good at his job.
