With full recognition of the irony of that statement ... you're totally right, IMO. Well, I don't know if I'd include Richardson in the "can actually hit an open shot" category yet. He only shot 42% in the summer league, and the reports from practices so far are that (1) he practices his jumper all the time but (2) he doesn't hit very many. Murphy, however, can shoot. I attended a workout of his (a little perk they have to promote season-ticket sales), and he was nailing about 85-90% of his shots from the right corner of the free-throw line and the right baseline. If they're anywhere near healthy (as in not having 10 different guys miss at least a month of the season, as happened last year), they should expect at least 30 wins, IMO. And for Dallas Rocket, I guess the whole purpose of this thread is to serve warning that the Warriors may have changed their culture. Do the Rockets have nine players working out at their practice facility in mid-August (most of whom have been there regularly since June)? I haven't checked, but I wonder if any team in the league does. Not that it promises miracles or anything, but at least it suggests a better team attitude than you'd expect after back-to-back nightmare seasons. I hear there are usually good seats available in Houston, too.
oh cmon swopa, what did you expect larry hughes to say? " oh i think if we just do what we did last year we'll be okay." of course not. ANYONE from ANY TEAM would say they want to improve, its something you have to say to the media or you look like a lazy ass.
In related news Swopa... http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news/ap/20010824/ap-warriors-porterarrested.html Golden State F Chris Porter arrested on drug charges August 24, 2001 DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- Former Auburn star Chris Porter was arrested Friday on drug charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation. Police said the Golden State Warriors forward had a small plastic bags with cocaine and another with mar1juana in the car. He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of mar1juana, said Lt. Ray Wiehe of the Dothan Police Department. Porter was to be released under $1,000 bond. Other details were not immediately available. Porter, the 1999 SEC player of the year, drafted in the second by the Golden State Warriors last year. The 6-foot-7 forward started 35 games last season, averaging 8.6 points and 3.7 rebounds. His hometown is about 25 miles from Dothan.
Rockets03: Cat: Beat me by one minute on the Porter news. Guess there's at least one Warrior who should have spent more of his summer working out in Oakland.
We make better trades now, thank you. Chris Porter (or, specifically, the pick used to draft him) for now-unemployed Todd Fuller ... hey, don't the Rockets need a center? Larry Hughes for the pick used to draft the mighty Chris Mihm Troy Murphy (#14 pick) for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING -- Indiana gave GS a lottery-protected pick for the right to move up from #26 to #21 in '99; GS took the player they wanted anyway at #26
Wow. The title for this thread takes on new meaning! Look out for the Warriors... Mainly when you're driving around, as Porter or another Warrior might be driving past you, coked up to the point of paranoia and stoned out of his mind. God knows if I'm in Oakland I'm sure as hell looking out for the Warriors so I can get the hell out of their way!
You're just all a bunch of meanies. ... he typed before suddenly realizing he has to drive home tonight in Oakland, just a couple miles from the Warriors practice facility
Haha! Man, I'm happy to see you're such a good sport about this Swopa. It's nice to have fans of other teams take ribbing like this and keep coming back, but the title of this thread caused it... I wish the Warriors nothing but good luck. ... of course, I'm sure they'll also need, voodoo, witchcraft, exorcism, and Houdini to help that franchise actually do anything worthwhile in the NBA... Stay in the slow lane, dude!
Aw, it's nothin', DoD. A high tolerance for gallows humor is a prerequisite for being a Warriors fan.
Tough call - I think Jamison is the better player (right now anyway), but I think that it's easier to build around Carter since his position is more clearly defined. But I'm sure that after this season Jamison's abilities to play either 3 or 4 will be in no doubt (by that I mean that he's going to improve his ball handling!)
And now for some shameless pro-Warrior spin ... Jamison signs max extension Oh, and let's not forget the coming attractions ... ... hey, don't these guys look like and ???
And some more, just 'cause I'm bored with all these damned Spurs threads ... Danny Fortson says of his rehabbed foot, "If it feels this great, nobody can keep me off the court."
