Like Rubio -- good passer, horrible shooter, thus far Watch @ 19 secs Wide open, pull-up 3PT --- missed by a foot.
Will Lonzo Ball make the rising stars roster https://www.basketball-reference.co...t&as_val=0&pos_is_g=Y&pos_is_gf=Y&order_by=ws
As far as shooting goes, rookie Rubio was closer to rookie Harden, than rookie Lonzo is to rookie Rubio. Let that sink in.
Correct, funky looking shot. I'm surprised his overbearing dad allowed him to shoot like that but considering his dad is a brute who played tight end (not very well), its not surprising he doesn't have a nice stroke like Ken Griffey swinging a bat or better yet Steph Curry.
Poverty Rubio became the first player with a brother in Chinese jail to record a triple double. -ESPN
Assists, triple doubles, and the lack of shooting ability. Sounds like a fair comparison. Kidd didn't win anything until he learned how to shoot though.
They are back to being neck and neck in shooting, requiring an 1-9, 0-6 night by Ball last night for him to regain lead as worst shooter, besting Rubio's 4-10, 1-4 night. Ricky Rubio .373 FG% .257 3P% 5.5 apg 3.6 to/g 1.52 assists/TOs -- 42nd worst out of 47 point guards Lonzo Ball .303 FG% .230 3P% 6.9 apg 2.7 to/g 2.58 assists/TOs -- 17th Rubio is 2-27 on threes in last 7 games
I don't like Rubio, but Lonzo is definitely in his own class now... I don't know what happened here, I mean the kid didn't do great in the bigger games, but the Lakers took him thinking it'd be okay on an even bigger stage. Unless Magic can somehow instill his greatness I just don't see this working out anytime soon. I don't like the Lakers, but Lonzo currently shouldn't be featured for them. Of course ESPN will run his triple double and comparison of Kidd to him, and while kidd didn't have a great shot to begin with, it just seems different watching him. Lonzo is too passive and his dad sells him on being something he's not. Hopefully it works out for Lonzo but this is a train wreck so far. Any other player would be sent to the G league by now. Hell ESPN is even slowing down finally on the silly Ball posts.
Not so fast, Rubio is 2-27 on threes in last 7 games (shooting 25% for the year)...and has become Bottom 5 worst Ast/TO point guards in the league.
Another great Ball v Rubio comparison...Restricted Area shooting (ie layups) Ball #1 and Rubio #4. Notice the huge FG% gap between Rubio and Rivers...basically, 4 really bad point guards and the rest of the league. Worst Starting Point Guards Shooting in the Restricted Area
