It makes this old school black dude proud that this hire hasn't turned into a race debate. Especially from you guys. Well done. :)

    My, how times have changed.

He is only getting the job because he is black and UT is full of liberals with white guilt. That said he seems to be very articulate and athletic.

I believe the term is 'Becky.' That's what the black hair forms call it.

Much the same as when Coach Yoeman brought black athletes into the SWC to beat the powerhouse white programs, the powers that only care about winning and losing see that having a black coach is the key to recruiting the best (fastest) black athletes.

They don't care who the hired help is as long as they can win their 'bottle of Scotch' bets from the boys at the club. :p

Texas aimed high (maybe too high) to start their search but still ended up with a good hire. Props.

This is such bullcrap. Every media outlet in the country was blowing up with "STRONG TO TEXAS" reports before the dude even had a chance to meet with his AD. Not Strong's fault everyone else was all over this story.

Damn, Clint Hurtt would have been a GREAT guy for this team recruiting wise. Wondering what he's being offered and from whom?

He should not have gotten popped paying Miami recruits. Gotta learn how to hide it as well as everyone else in the UT program.

If I recall one of the infractions was having a booster pay for players/recruits meals. Meanwhile, Texas calcified billionaires have UT players over for slumber parties at their ranches. Whatever.

Agreed. That's not on Strong. Chances are some of the "Strong to Texas" reports came out before anyone from Texas had even formally contacted him or talked about terms of a possible deal. If Strong wanted to hold up talks with Texas at least until he had a chance to talk to his Louisville AD, I'm guessing he also had a desire to talk to his players as well.

This is a solid hire for the Longhorns. Strong did some really good things at Louisville, not the least of which was getting Teddy Bridgewater to decommit from his hometown team of Miami to come to Louisville before he had even had that much success there.
