This is another reason I love the hire. I didn't want a big name. I wanted, along with a lot of other alumni, a young coach who can come in and set a foundation for a long future. Like I said, he's well loved by his peers, the kids and their parents. He doesn't put up with off the field bull****, and he won't have the big head donors partying it up in the club house. He's about to clean **** up along with Patterson.

    I pray.

From a pure football standpoint, behind Briles and Saban, this was the best hire UT could have made.

Solid move. I like Strong a lot. Getting hard to dislike UT or A&M lately.

The hire is just negotiation leverage for Saban and Fisher.

Slightly over a million dollar raise.

    Sounds about right.

I never thought I would see Texas hire a black head football coach with a white wife. Hell, a black coach period. UT and A&M both with black head football coaches. I know I'm not alone in being shocked to see that.

I'm much better positioned than you to provide these insights, so enjoy.

Texas has more black staff members than most of the big 12 (Bucky Godbolt) and they fought to use race as a factor in admissions while A&M refused. Of all schools in Texas, UT should surprise you the least.

Kinda different from the head football coach. Not trying to turn this into the D&D. Just never thought I would see the day where UT and A&M both had black football coaches. That's all.

Yup, this is insane for the state of Texas. Time to legalize weed and just freak us all the hell out.

If by "these insights," you mean hilarious, nonsensical anti-Texas snippets that reveal your weird obsession, then, yes! You are much better positioned than I am!

Anyway, exciting time for Texas fans, regardless of your exact feelings toward the hire. I think our search pretty much showed that you can't hire a guy with big school coaching experience unless he is currently not employed in college football (Urban Meyer at tOSU, Nick Saban at Alabama). With no one like that available, you have to like hiring a guy that was in charge of some great Florida defenses, has shown strong recruiting ability, and helped turn around a historically average Louisville program. There's some unknown here, but there's a lot to like about what is known.

Well I'm not sure how old you are or Icehouse is but there are pockets in the state and old timers who still feel Texas-Austin is racist. This goes back to **** in the 60s and through the 80s. It's a reason why Texas could never get players out of DFW area. ***** has changed but just remember that there are people who still hold these sentiments.

No butter on those teeth. At the very least it's a dental upgrade over Mack Brown.
