unlike the other geniuses who suit up for D-1 programs? Doubtful. He sounds articulate enough in most interviews that I've heard.

you don't need a degree in bio-chem-petroleum psychology engineering to play football.

Don't confuse athletic talent with genius. Young is successful because of his feet, not his head.

Being smart in football is a huge advantage. Peyton Manning thrives on it. David Carr sucks at it.

Yes...It's David Carr's ignorance that piledrives him into the ground everytime he receives the snap...

Also, if being so smart is a prerequisite for football, why is it that that St Louis Rams qb is not some all pro qb, and is only playing because of injury to their starting qb?

Being smart does help.. just gotta have athletic talent to go with it...

if a smart guy had 100 times less talent.. the smartness isn't going to make him the top qb in the league...

but if two people were about equal talent wise. and one was a lot smarter. that smartness could help. it's not going to overcome a HUGE talent gap though.

Vince's calm demeanor in the pocket is a key to his success ~ this is something cannot be measured on an IQ chart, but is purely mental ability.

His inability to read the defense and audible to the right play does pile him into the ground. If you don't think intelligence helps in any sport (especially football), then you don't know much about any game.

now Bigtexxx is saying Jesus isn't articulate.

guess he hasn't heard of the sermon on the mount, or the beatitudes, or any of his parables

Actually, yes. The threat of Vince's scrambling alters how the defense schemes against him. In many cases, the safeties have to come up to the line and you have more single coverage on the wideouts. If you don't think Vince's feet are a chief concern of defensive coordinators, you are flat wrong.

If Vince was so intelligent, why did it take him so long to understand coverages and learn the playbook? It is well known that Greg Davis limited the creativity of the offense during Vince's freshman and sophomore seasons for this reason. Vince had the athletic ability to play QB at Texas since his junior year in high school. It took him until his 4th season at UT to get the mental part of it down pat.
