He's a real cool guy, he lived down the hall from me in Jester and hooped regularly on OCP team and a few of my intramural teams too. Hope he makes it out of this.
he pulled a Boy George!! calls the cop and gets himself busted in the process... as far as UT recruiting is concerned, how are they at fault for recruiting this guy a year before he got arrested?
Yes they do. The toughest in the nation, as a matter of fact. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...n15,0,4752329.story?coll=orl-sports-headlines http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...9.htmlstory?coll=orl-sports-headlines-recruit Let's try to stay on topic. EDIT: It appears these links have expired (they are in another thread, though). Somebody go grab that info - tia. They represent the most recent study done on athletes' admissions standards. Rice was the toughest in the nation for football.

I'm not sure how admission standards are really relevant to academic integrity. Unless you think its OK because they are dishonest but smart?
Rice took decisive action on those who were caught breaking the honor code. They were kicked off the team. I love how you've tried to shift the focus to Rice. LOL, You'll never win that fight, friend.
This doesnt surprise me at all. Some of the football players I know at SFA told me Ramonce is always into drugs.
From your own statement it is clear that UT took decisive action as well -- by withholding Taylor from spring drills so he could focus on his poor academic standing. If the drug charges are true he will no doubt be kicked off the team.
Really? In 30 years, the situation hasn't changed. They recruited people who cheated at a high level then, and they still do it now. What does kicking them off the team have to do with anything? Ramonce Taylor isn't on UT's team either. You claimed your focus was your concern about the good name of scholar-athletes in general and not about UT. Are you changing your mind now? Or do you believe having dishonest scholar-athletes is a good thing?
my only regret is that none of the weed had been smoked. I guess if you grew up in Waco you'd think people would care.
seriously texxx what do you want? every texas fan to bow down and give you a written apology for the actions of RT? do you want mack to personally execute RT? christ man mack dismissed him from the practices earlier in the year and he will probably be kicked off the team when these charges are investigated further. what UT fans are pushing for RT to come back? who has simply dismissed this report? no one. you tried to show UT has this win at any costs mentality but in that link you posted it shows UT in the top tier of all those schools and near the top of all public schools wrt 'student athletes'.. maybe if you started threads on the troubles of 'student athletes' at other colleges then people here might believe you were actually genuine instead of thinking you just take any chance you get to bring up negatives at UT.
It's too late for that. He's been doing this FAR too long for any of us to actually think he cares about student athlete issues. Leopard. Spots. Can't change. The end.
What does police do with all this captured evidence in the end? (Drugs, money, etc.) My dad was on a federal grand jury and he said that the action Denzel Washington took in Training Day, keeping some of the captured money for himself before reporting it is quite regular.
What a blunder by RT. I saw him at cocacola beach padre island on spring break. He was waving a giant 10 foot UT flag and yelling f.ck A&M right in front of a group of aggie football players. Then they got into a huge brawl that turned into a riot and the entire beach had to be shut down. People were throwing coolers of ice and bottles 20 feet into the air into huge crowds of people. It was insane. He must be a pretty good fighter because I saw him walking down the beach unscathed half an hour later. I have a feeling he wrecked a few people.
come on man, dont sidestep something like that. there were all those threads about something comparable to this thread and you posted nothing in them. i could care less if you have a strong disliking for UT. it happens i feel the same way about the utah jazz. but at least admit it. im sure you hate to see those examples from other schools. but its so freaking obvious that you were excited in whatever way about seeing this about Ramonce and UT. and yes im sure UT fans are saddened to see this happen to a good player and regret that it will impact how good the football team is. but i dont think anyone thats a fan for UT is going to want him playing if indeed he gets a felony. and what is the point in always comparing UT to rice. rice has slightly higher acadimic standards as a whole; why wouldnt they also for athletics. you dislike UT for whatever reasons you have, WE ALL GET THAT. but dont pretend you care about those other examples as much as this one, and that UT is all about letting complete idiots into there program. your chart you posted showed them at the top of there own confrence in the aspect. what i mean by all this is you hate UT, and thats fine. just dont sit there and pretend you dont.
