Yep, if we're going to suck, let's do it right! Suck epically! If we don't, we're not epic, we're just...bad. Here is the list. Let's keep climbing up!
The harden trade also took another team doing something historically idiotic. I would rather not rely on that and take my chances through the draft. The harden trade is literally once in a lifetime
Call it "relying" all you want but most fans will accept luck over their team sucking. I'll take Anderson for Bagwell and Fields for Yordan every time
Math doesn't matter when talking luck. What fan would rather suffer losing seasons vs getting lucky? This isn't about what's more likely to happen. It's about what you'd rather have happen.
You'd rather get lucky with a Harden-type trade and avoid the torture and embarrassment of trash seasons.
no, i'd rather rely on something that has happened dozens of times (draft picks) vs trading for young superstars (one time). It makes no difference to me if the rockets go 20-62 or 30-52 or 40-42, those are all the same
There's also been dozens of times where teams drafted the wrong player(s) and their losing ways continued. It does matter to you whether the Rockets win 20, 30, or 40 games. FORTY-win teams don't have 26-game losing streaks or high draft picks. You've already argued wanting both of those. Come on man, everybody wants to fleece another in a trade than suffer losing seasons. Most teams just aren't lucky enough to have it happen.
ya because there's no difference between 20 and 40 wins for me emotionally, i'd ALWAYS rather win 20. Sure you can miss on the pick, but at least you have a chance and hope. Without the picks, there's no hope. I'm not looking for lightning to strike twice with another harden, i'm living in reality.
You're not realizing how much you've contradicted yourself during this talk. Lol It's cool though. Nice talking to posters across forums who cheer for the same teams I do.
you're just nitpicking to try to say "gotcha". I want as many high draft picks as possible, the way that's accomplished is losses. If i ran the rockets, i would make damn sure we had whatever record you needed to have the highest odds at the 1st pick for AT LEAST 2 seasons, and if it took more, so be it.
Reminds me of the movie clip in, "Bushwacked," when the lead guy gets mauled by the bear. Scout troop see in the manual that you are suppose to play dead......they exclaim the guy, "is the master." He wasn't playing dead, he fainted. I don't think the Rockets are dead per say, more like a series of fainting spells during the games as of late.
Then why do you want to build through the draft? It's not the geometrically optimal way of constructing a team that wins championships. Are you one of those people that believes in math but isn't actually a mathematician. If so, I have a bridge to sell you.
