I didn't realize Kenny Smith was so fast before I saw this video.

    nice video.

I admit that I became a Rockets because of Yao so I am hazy about those championship years. Forgot how good Mad Max was.

Would the Rockets have kept Otis Thorpe if Vernon Maxwell didn't turn out to be crazy? I've always liked Clyde so it the thought of him not getting ring (in his hometown with Hakeem to boot) would suck but how do you guys think things would have turned out?

edit - I was a Nets fan most of my life so switching allegiances was rather easy. Please forgive me for my disloyalty to them but being a Nets fan wasn't easy. BTW- Gminski always owned Hakeem.

Well the Rockets were in a funk the 94-95 year with key injuries to Hakeem and Vernon. However, there has been issues with Vernon and the Rockets about a contract extension. Getting Clyde pretty much meant the end of the Maxwell era as the starting 2 guard for the Rockets.

However getting rid of Thorpe made the Rockets void of a solid traditional PF. So in the later years, even with Barkley, we had issues on the defense vs PFs like Malone and Kemp.

Oh well, we got 2, I'm happy. The Drexler story was great. Maxwell had his great story too the year before. So I'm happy for both.

oh the person who posted this video is a BULLS FAN. Irony. Thanks to that guy though. Cause I know if a Rockets fan posted it they'd screw them over like the did Clutch a couple of times.

Vernon was such a physical talent. He really could have been something else.

I love that Dream block on the Jordan post up. You never saw post players with the quickness to get Jordan's shot on that post up turnaround. Dream was the ultimate goal keeper.

I was watching some other old videos of the 90's.

I get shivers down my spine everytime Starks shoots that 3 in game 6 of the 93-94 finals (airball).

    Well oh my God...
After this year of watching absolute trash Rockets basketball I honestly forgot what the game looked like.

Wow...Talking about bringing back memories. Now I am really depressed because of what the Rockets are now. I just love it when they play with intensity. Anyhow, I think a tear came our of my eye when I saw Hakeem's block at the end. I remember this game as if it happened tomorrow (same feed and all).

Too all Rockets fans....Maxwell is a superstar! Too bad he was a bad boy and did things such as infecting a woman with herpes.

As a younger Rockets fan, it was great to see that. I never realized that Maxwell was that dynamic. Thanks for posting, tinman.

Thanks tinman for posting this. Kenny Smith and Mad Max look great in this game. Sleepy Floyd almost screwed the game up though. Do you think Rafer is better than him, tinman? :p

I would sure like to know if the internet was active during Floyd's era with the Rockets like it is today, and you had a fan forum website such as this one, I would sure like to know if there would have been so many threads of negativity about Sleepy Floyd like what we've seen about Rafer. Sleepy Floyd had too much of that Jekyll & Hyde syndrom--there one night, disappears the next.

I sure have memories of the season (1992-93) when he would no longer be part of the rotation, then being waved the following summer when the likes of Mario Elie and Sam Cassell would come on board to go along with Kenny Smith, Vernon Maxwell, and Scott Brooks. :D I'm sure that a lot of members on this board are all waiting to at least see the same thing to happen to Rafer.

    Great video, tinman.

Dream was unreal blocking Jordan from BEHIND Jordan's man... and the one at the end. :) And that ankle breaking move on Cartwright...
