Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control I'm gonna be seeing less of my gf than I would like in the foreseeable future.

I've never been in a "long distance relationship" and I'd like advice on here from anybody who has.

And cheating or anything else like that is NOT an option.........I love this girl too much to do that....

It's hard to make work. With distance, you guys will eventually drift apart. I've seen it work before, but most times, they don't workout. Just my opinion.

When you say long distance relationship, what do you mean? City, State, Country?

Don't listen to him man. Long distance relationships are hard work, but they can easily work if both people make a focused effort to stay connected. You have to communicate with each other, while at the same time maintaining a level of trust that you've probably never had to do before. And a little wowwowweewow over the phone never hurt either. ;)

These are always the best type of relationships -- I believe they have a 97.5% success rate.

Yeah, that's a major component of the equation.

Tech. she'd be closer to where I live with this new move, but circumstances will probably lead to me seeing less and less of her.

I still don't get it. Where are you going to be? And where is she going to be?

I'll be in my same location, but she'll be moving from her own place back into her aunts place in order to get out of an abusive situation.

The problem is......given the turmoil in her life, her aunt may not want her to have a boyfriend.

And there in lies the problem.....

Tech and Houston? Tech and where? Lubbock/Houston isn't that bad. Heck, I'd be making at least a couple of weekenders a month, if it were me.

edit: just saw the above... that's long distance?? (where's the "roll-eyes" thingy, dammit!)

Yeah. You're leaving out some details that would help us help you. What's the distance from your place to her Aunt's place. Houston - Galveston, Houston- Dallas? If you don't want to name cities, you can give us some kind of example of distance.

I was going to write one of those blog thingies on this very topic. There is this saying in spanish about long distance relationships..amor de lejos amor de pend..
In other words, they rarely work and stay away from them.*

    * I never listened and it always ended badly.

Ive done it plenty of times...its hard, but if you both have the same goal in mind, there is no reason why it would fail. Webcam is helpful. Visit each other as often as possible too.
