I think you misunderstood my intention. I have no problem at all with you posting any news related to this horrible event. But don't you think the title "Islamic Militans linked to Al-Queda" is on the same par as "Study reveals Osama bin Laden was from Middle East"?

That is what the article is about, whether or not it is obvious or not.

Just putting info on the link so people can make an informed decision on whether or not to read it.

i'm angry and sad. basso, and any others who have loved ones in harm's way, i am wishing for the best. the timing seems bad for the terrorists. this will only encourage those allies who were lukewarm to the war on terror to get heated up. i watched blair's initial response this morning with all the G8 leaders standing solemnly behind him. love'em or hate'm these are our brothers. i also feel for the scrutiny that innocent muslims in foreign lands will inevitably face, they are also our brothers. but these vile bastards who did this, and all the other extemist devils, are so far removed from what any of us could consider human behavior that they deserve to die and die soon. i agree that the arab countries need to take a stronger stand, prove that islam is a religion of tolerance and love. prove it now, we have no more time or lives to waste.

Excellent post. Sometimes it's really hard to reiterate that only a small amount of the group of people are bad. When similar attacks come from terrorists in the name of Islam again and again, it is driving general concensus against the Muslim world. It's about time for those leaders and true Muslims stand up and clean their houses and name.

Anyone still think the terror warnings done by the Dept of Homeland Security are silly? Anyone want to make fun now?

Netanyahu Changed Plans Due to Warning By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer
Thu Jul 7, 7:14 AM ET

JERUSALEM - British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.

Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.

Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.

The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet.

All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.

The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.

Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."

Netanyahu had been scheduled to stay in London until Sunday, but that could change, Gilad said.

at this time state has no reports of american casulties, which is good news, but i think it's probably just too early to ID anyone, much less ascertain their nationality.

I get it. The terror warning only went out to the "important people" like Netanyahu. Meanwhile, the common folk went to work this morning completely oblivious. What good is that?

You are a small, small man. Was this post really necessary? Many people died in this tragic event and you're still playing politics. Grow up.

I don't get it. US Department of Homeland Security should be responsible for issuing warning on behalf of Israel?

I hope your family are well, and the friends and family members of others here who are traveling during the Summer. We just got back from a month of travel in the Northeast and remarked several times about the lack of, or seemingly non-existent, security in the transit and subway systems of Boston, New York and Philadelphia. We went through amazing security at the airports... the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall (taking the kids... we're still recuperating!), and yet saw only token security on the mass transit systems of the cities mentioned, and trains between the cities, on which millions travel everyday.

I'm not sure what the answer is... maybe doing away with some of those absurd tax cuts for big business and the wealthy, and spending the money on our security. If Bush won't do that to finance his war and occupation of Iraq, I don't see him doing it on this. Something needs to be done. We are wide open to attacks similar to the tragic one that just occured in London, and the horrific one in Madrid. I fear it's only a matter of time.

man they are not sure at this time who exactly did this.... lets just wait and see....and Islam does not have to prove anything...it is not a violent religion....there is nothing that teaches mindless killing .....this is all political.....its sad though...cause its only going to make people move towards hatred ...like DaDakota....things will get worse before they get better....sadly enough....can only hope these guys get caught before they do somethign else.

bigtexxx, it is you who need to grow out of Bush's rhetoric and face the reality, which is, this ill-advised War in Iraq has made America and its allies safer at home or not?

    From the BBC

    Muslim leaders join condemnation

Muslim leaders have condemned the attacks on London and said they fear their communities could now fall prey to vigilante attacks.

Muslim Association of Britain president Ahmed Sheikh said the attacks would make the Muslim community less safe.

He said women in headscarves might be in particular danger and warned all Muslims to be especially vigilant.

Muslim News editor Ahmed Versi noted one of London's biggest Muslim areas, around Aldgate, had been targeted.

Mr Sheikh said the unique good relationship Muslims had with the government and society was threatened.

"The person who did this was targeting along with wider British society the Muslim community, ruining the good relationship we have."

He said the police should consider extra protection for mosques and Islamic schools and said Muslims, particularly women in headscarves, should be vigilant and avoid unnecessary journeys.

"It is scary. A tiny element of the community will make use of this. It is a blow to us, to all of us. It is a moment of sadness and we send our condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured."

Sir Iqbal Sacranie of the Muslim Council of Britain said he utterly condemned the attacks.

"We are simply appalled and want to express our deepest condolences to the families.

"These terrorists, these evil peoplewant to demoralise us as a nation and divide us.

"All of must unite in helping the police to hunt these murderers down."

Mr Sacranie admitted "there may well be elements who want to exploit this tragedy and incite hatred".

Faith leaders in the East End have prepared for the fallout of a terror attack in London.

The Bishop of Stepney, Stephen Oliver and Dr Mohammed Abdul Bari, the chairman of the East London Mosque, spoke together outside the Royal London Hospital saying the East End and London must remain united in the face of terror.

Dr Bari said "We're just shocked and horrified by what has happened. I spoke to the congregation at the mosque and tried to calm their fears and told them they must remain vigilant.

"We have worked together with the communities in the East End for many years and we must continue doing so."

Bishop Oliver said "When something like this happens people are at first afraid, and then people get angry.

"There's a great deal of speculation in this atmosphere. We are determined that whatever the reaction it is one that unites the different faith communities."

    Attacks danger

Mr Versi said he had already received one threatening e-mail about the blasts.

"There might be some increase in attacks on the Muslim community especially visible aspects of Islam like mosques, community centres and women with headscarves.

"Recently there have been a lot of attacks on Muslim women on buses in London, it has increased during the last few months."

But he said the immediate Muslim revulsion at the attacks could help calm the situation.

"I don't think there'll be as high a number of attacks as after 11 September because Muslims have come out very strongly, especially Muslim leaders, condemning the attacks.

"I'm sure many Muslims will have been injured as well... one of the bombs - at Aldgate - was near to the east London mosque, it's a very heavy Muslim area.

"Muslims have to be vigilant now, especially the mosques, and I hope the police will increase security on mosques and Islamic centres."

Other religious leaders also offered their condolences and condemned the attack.

Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks said: "These terrible events have brought home to us the full evil that terror represents.

"It is not the weapon of the weak against the strong but the rage of the angry against the defenceless and innocent. It is an evil means to an evil end."

The Sikh Federation said: "We totally condemn the terrorist attacks targeting innocent civilians in London. These are the acts of cowards and a challenge to the international world. Those responsible have no respect for human life."

Well that appears good on the surface at least... Hopefully they're sincere and not just trying to cover their azzes and/or prevent backlash violence against them.

So its Bush's fault huh?

Its no one's fault except for the a-hole muslims that carried out the attack...period. They live to do this. Their interpretation of the Quran support their actions. They are pathetic excuses for life.

My cousin was on the train behind the one that was bombed and fortunately she got out safely. Having family/friends there is an eerie reminder of 9-11. Scary stuff.
