uhm... you'd be wise to check this year's MNF schedule. what are you, 12? they became america's team waaaaaay back in the 70's, under tom landry.
BTW, I remember hearing from McNair and he said his neck was just a little sore but that it didn't really effect him. So I think the "concussion" was not that bad, even if it was a real one. However, he may have just been trying not to make excuses because, like you said, the offense did become worse. The Cowboys D may have just picked it up and adapted, or McNair just was not the same. Being a Cowboy fan, I'm going with the Cowboy D picking it up. BTW, I don't know much about Jerry Jones's (is that right?) moves. I think getting QC as a starting QB and other decisions were bad, but this past offseason wasn't bad. We had an excellent draft and picked up some nice FA's. Glover and Hardy showed their effectiveness in the 2 games already. Tony McGee, a TE FA, has a touchdown and has blocked pretty well so far. So basically what I'm trying to say is JJ is bad and good as a GM, but I won't list too many bad things.
RC, you dont know this , but Jerry Jones has ruined our franchise. He is the worst thing ever to happen to the Cowboys.
Well, I've heard he's done that, but I'm trying to say he's "making up" for it by making SOME good moves. May not be the Jerry West of the NFL, but he's trying. BTW, wasn't getting rid of Jimmy one of the bad moves? I still am sketchy at why they got so bad so quick. I just know a few things.
i think the problem is that he shouldn't try to BE the Jerry West of the NFL...rather he should try to HIRE the Jerry West of the NFL.
I don't know who knows less about football, the Cowboys or their fans Some of the stuff in these threads is incredible.
I notice you didn't take contention with the merchandise sales or the number of times they have had a lead NT game relative to their record. What do you do not too well, read I guess. The gentlemen I refereed to were Tex and Tom. Since when have Jerry and Jimmy ever been thought of as gentlemen--even by the people that like them. My whole point is people hated them (and they were known as "America's team") well before they tried to use "brash brass" as the excuse for hating them.
The Dallas Cowboys, America's team.* That statement should always be followed by an asterisk. I think I will start calling myself king of the bbs. At least the Cowboy fans will believe me. Just proclaim myself and its official. Thats all it takes right DS? *self proclaimed
All I have to say is all this uproar about an admittedly bad-mediocre team pretty much proves it. For the life of me the only reason I can think of Oiler and Texan fans disliking the Cowboy team is envy. I can understand 40whiner, Iggles, Packers, Skins, Broncos, Fish, and Bills fans hating them--after all getting your butts kicked on major stages does that to you. But the Boys were not Oiler division rivals, the Boys never kept the Oilers out of the Super Bowl, the Oilers never had any of their major chokes against them, in fact the Oilers/Texans have done pretty well against them the few times they have played. It is amazing how much animosity is there when the worst thing that should be there for Oiler/Texan fans is indifference. It is like the Stros fans hating the Rangers. Maybe if the Rangers were as good over the last 40 years as the Boys the Stros fans would hate them to. Again, "Go Texans, How bout dem Cowboys, and screw the Titans, Steelers, 40whiners, Skins, Iggles, Giants, Broncos, etc, etc." If you don't care to join this train oh well, I won't lose any sleep.
You mean like winning 3 Super Bowls? I know you're going to come back with something like "That was in the past" ... well newsflash, so was week 1. The only thing that matters is what happens from hear on out. Personally I don't think the Cowboys are going to beat the Eagles. The Eagles are just too good right now. Do I think they are going to go to the playoffs? Nope, but they should finish about 8-8 which would be an improvement over the last couple of years. You have to realize that as a team (not a franchise) the Cowboys have a younger team than the Texans. Hell Quincy Carter has only started 11 games in his career, and has never even played against the Eagles. That alone should tell how young this team is. Give them time, they are getting better. Thier defense will more than likely finish in the top 5, and their rookies are all studs. I also wouldn't exactly call what we have here as a Cowboys/Texans rivalry. It seems more like a Dallas/Houston rivalry. You can't really call it a rivalry when you only play 1 time every 4 years.
Jimmy Johnson was the coach AND the GM when those teams were put together. Manny said that a "team with Jerry Jones as the GM won't amount to much." That is the distinction.
ummmm..i do hate the rangers...and the stars...and the cowboys...and the mavericks...simply because they're from dallas and i'm a 4th generation houstonian...the same way philly fans hate pittsburgh...the same way SF fans hate LA teams...the same way Giants fans hate Jets fans...it's interstate rivalry.
That's cool, I see you are consistent. Personally, I never had a problem with another team who wasn't an on the field rival of some team I did like, but that is just me I guess. I don't get the impression many Cowboy fans over the years hated the Oilers (I always liked both), but hopefully we can at least agree that the Steelers will forever blow chunks and this first 2 weeks of their pummeling has been quite enjoyable.
Remember last year on ESPN Sunday night Football when Philly raped Dallas 40-18. And this final score does not tell how bad it actually was. Bad Omen for Dallas? Lasy year's in game Philly was also the third game of the season.
