Dallas did beat the Titans yesterday, and it counts, but I think the Titans had a much better team. Dallas' last two TD were well executed schemes, but they were still lucky td's. A deflected pass and a guy catching a TD in double coverage. If that deflection doesn't occur I think the Cowboys were going to lose. But you can't take away the win from them. They played very well defensively and they made no mistakes.

I am a Titan's fan, so I have some bias, but I think the Titans were moving the ball well enough to win that game until the dflected pass turned the momentum. Then everything changed.

Anyone who wishes a career ending injury to one of the greatest spokesmen deserves to have there team moved again. (Again guys I'm not serious but if you want Emmit hurt, I want the Texans moved)

Texans you beat the Cowboys, yeah!! You will win at the most 4 games this year and have a top 3 pick next year.

Dallas will not be much better, but I guarantee more wins.

Again I know Dallas is not an expansion team but just getting tired of Texan fans expecting miracles. Same thing happened in Cleveleand and they are still trying to becoem a winning team.

I would have to say that those people are idiots for thinking that the Cowboys would make the playoffs.

    ROTFLMFAO!

this is EXACTLY WHY fans here were so excited...we were told to expect what cleveland has had to endure...they were blown out and shut out in their very first game against their long time rivals, the steelers...in the texans first game, the defense showed it can keep the team in games and the TEXANS WON!!

i'm not expecting miracles...but i'm extremely impressed with the progress of this expansion franchise in so little time.

I was an Oilers fan and now I'm a Texans fan.

Since I'm originally from San Antonio, I root for the Spurs in the NBA.

I think McNair's concussion had something to do with the Titans offense becoming ineffective. Sure the Cowboys blitzing had a lot to do with it, but if McNair had a clear head and wasn't weary about another hit, he might have performed better in the 2nd half.

by the way, glad to see another titans fan out here!

Someone trying to talk crap about the Cowboys but doesn't even know the number of divisions in the league or how the playoffs will be determined, great.

The Cowboys have a chance at the playoffs. If Phily beats Washington tonight the division is all square and looks pretty even (any of the 4 teams could come out of it). My bets would be on Phily because they have the one dynamic offensive playmaker, but the Iggles are no sure thing either. The Cowboys do look to have one of the better defenses in the league and the best in the division, again, they have a chance to win their division even if a slim one.

The Texans should be thanking the Cowboys. By the Texans winning against them and then the Cowboys knocking off (and beating up) their divisional rival (and true traitors to both the city of Houston and the state of Texas) they have helped put the Texans to first place through week 2.

By the way the fact so many people hate the Boys through their sucky/mediocre years and the fact they get on TV so much and sell the most merchandise also while they suck/are mediocre proves they are still America's team. It is easy to love or hate a winner, but to love or hate a loser takes timeless perseverance.

Go Texans!!!, F*ck the titans!!!, How bout dem Cowboys!!!, that is all I have to say.

Umm, as Max said earlier, drapg is right. There are 4 divisional winners and 2 wildcards. What did you think it was?

I guess. It's like that old saying "Anything is possible." But I wouldn't get my hopes up. Any team that has Jerry Jones as their GM is not going to be much.

WTF?? This is the most circuitous route that I have ever seen a fan of a team that lost to an expansion team take in trying to make themselves think that everything is still alright with their team. Ummm, Scar, all the other teams are 1-1 in that division, so that is not that great of an accomplishment. However, using this type of logic, I could say that the Texans should be thanking the Cowboys because thanks to the Cowboys, the Texans aren't in last place at 0-2, are they?

Did you ever think that many people hate the "Boys" because of their micro-managing, megalomaniacal owner/GM/coach (Campo is just a puppet) Jerry Jones?? Hmmmm...yea, people are jealous of a team that is 5-11, 4-12, or even worse. And for the umpteenth time, since when has America enjoyed rooting for a sorry-ass team like the Cowgirls? Huh? I really want to know the answer to that one. Oh, it is just more bunk that Cowboys fans use to make themselves feel better and deny the current nightmare that JJ has put them in.

I have to say that I am shocked at this post of yours, Scar. You usually do such a good job of presenting your points and holding your own; however, it seems like that the Cowboys losing to the Texans has caused you to wig out. It is just a game (although I would have to admit that it would be hard to be a Cowboys fan right now because of Jerry Jones).

are you sure there are no wild cards??? i thought there were two...but even still..yes,there are 8 divisions...but the only relevant playoff spots are out of the NFC...that would be via the division champ route or the wild card route (because i think there are still two wild cards)

There are still 2 wild cards in each division. You will have the 4 div.ision winners in each division also. 2 of them will get byes and 2 will play the wildcard teams. Thus you will still have 12 total playoff teams for the whole league.

    Desert Scar,

    You are incorrect .

Look at this link, please, and explain to me why in the hell there would still be a wild card weekend if only 8 teams total made the playoffs?

What I was more getitng at is the Cowboys beat the Titans, who will be far more of a rival of the Texans than the Cowboys will and should be. The Titans are in the same division as the Texans and are a favorite, it is obvious the Cowboys helped the Texans cause yesterday.

People hated and loved the Cowboys even when the gentlemen were in charge (before Jerry & Jimmy)--it was then when they became Americas team. Sure some Cowboys fans swore them off a little while because of the brash brass, but the rest of the league fans just hated them well before because they were the great Cowboys.

From the animosty towards them even when they suck/were medicore I think it is pretty obvious. Other teams and fans can't stand them because even when they suck/are mediocre they get lots of media attention, put on TV a lot, and still lead the league in merchandise sold most years--these are facts not opinions. In short even when we suck on the field (which only became about because the league changed salary rules--otherwise we would be like the Yankees) we are still an awesume franchise to be--that is why they we are hated. Now that we are mediocre and showing some promise, it just makes people even madder. As for nightmare JJ put is in, that is just an exaggeration. Tell that to Bengels fans, or Chargers fans, or Saints fans, or Cardinals fans, or on and on and on. Pergatory Cowboy land is not, we have a long term comittment and long term perspective--that is what true fans do.

To tell you the truth I didn't mind the Texans win. I have a Texans shirt and will rout for them as my #2 team. Sure some of my comments are over the top. But I just don't understand how any Texan, Texas or Houston fan would have more animosity toward the Cowboys (if I remember the Oiler franchise fared well against them) than they would to the Steelers, Ravens/Browns, Broncos, Chief, and especially the freaken Titans. If Les next year made the Provo or OKC Rockets they would instantly be on my hate list--and I I don't even live in Houston or Texas any more.

I was wrong about wild cards.

    By John Clayton
    ESPN.com
"Now that realignment has occurred, the next big topic is structuring the post season. For 2002, 2003 and perhaps 2004, the NFL won't add any playoff teams. Good thing. Twelve is enough. Plus, the NFL needs to see how the change to four divisions featuring schedules with more common opponents plays out. What the NFL doesn't want is having 8-8 or 7-9 teams make it."

I thought the league decided to only have division winners in the new 8-division format but I am incorrect. They take the 4 division winners and 2 wild cards. Apologizes to drapg to I initially responded to.

However this format (6 teams) increases the Cowboys chances at a playoffs, 9 & 7 puts you in the ball park. They key will be going .500 or better in divisional & conference games. I do doubt the Cowboys make the playoffs, but it is not that long of a shot.

It does not get to me. What gets to me is people that come up with these stupid conclusions. The fact that the Cowboys suck has nothing to do with the fact that the Texans suck.

The Cowboys (all this time you have hated the Cowboys you still dont seem to know the teams name) excuse is the fact that Jerry Jones is running the team. Sadly, I dont have anything to do with how the team is run, but I am there every game rooting for them. What else can I do?
