Visa Issues Change 2018 League of Legends World Championship Play-In Stage Schedule
    Sep 28, 2018

On the 28th of September, Riot Games Korea made an announcement that the 2018 League of Legends World Championship Play-In Stage schedule has been changed. The dates for the Play-In Stage Day 1 and Day 3 will be switched with Day 2 and Day 4 respectively.

Due to an unexpected visa issue, LAOS' Infinity Esports wasn't able to board their flight until the 28th of September. Therefore, Infinity Esports had no choice but to take their flight on that day, which will cause them to arrive in Korea on the 30th. If the Play-In Stage commenced with the unchanged schedule, Infinity Esports would've had to play their games with only a single day of rest after landing in Korea.

Riot Games Korea added that the decision to change the schedule was made to provide Infinity Esports with a bit more time to recover from the jetlag and to better prepare for their matches. Infinity Esports will play their first Play-In Stage match on the 2nd of October.

Q: Japan came out with a huge surprise during your second match -- no one expected that. Where do you think it went wrong? Why did you guys struggle so much?

L: We had a lead early game, but we made a couple of greedy plays where we went for Rift Herald, hoping they wouldn't check it. Apart from that, we made some mistakes during the 5 vs. 5 teamfights.

Q: Throughout the entirety of the match, Reapered wore an angry look on his face -- even during the moments where you won. Did you receive harsh feedback after the match?

L: We got some "not-so-good" feedback. We were told to watch the VOD's all by ourselves and think about what we've done. He was not too pleased...

After the game, when we were walking, we saw the coaching booth. GoldenGlue was smiling, Svenskeren was there smiling, our manager Vincent was smiling... and then Reapered was there with this deadpan look. I was like, "Oh, no..." (Laughs)

Q: Do you think the issue shown here today in game 2, is something that could quickly be fixed moving forward?

L: It's sort of a one-time thing... because the mistakes were something that we should be able to fix for next time. Also, it's good that this happened now, and not later on in the tournament.
