So tired of the sarcastic ketchup and mustard references. I was listening to the first Houston Rockets game on the radio as a young boy. Art Eckman extolled the virtues of the Rocket Red and Desert Gold unis. Leave the fast food references out.... please!
Actually, I would like that. I just tried "modernizing" that logo, similar to what Detroit did to their logo. I would not mind at all if the Rockets went back to the championship logo. My favorite logo and uniform in the league are Golden State. I want something similar to their style. Retro, yet it's modern. I guess you can say retro is the modern style. Right now, I feel like the Rockets logo is in the same phase as the Warriors when they had the fake Turbo guy holding a thunder bolt logo. But if that's what it takes to get to what they have now, so be it. They absolutely hit a homerun with their current logo.
I like the idea of getting rid of the blood trails but keep the circle cause that gives the logo it's motion; would be too static without it. If you like the old mustard and red look...add a little mustard accent to it. A few minor tweaks is what it needs...not a drastic change. Or why not this...just get rid of the banner and add the team name in that spot..have less blue and more red. And maybe the Rocket more front and center overlapping the cityscape.
Don't flame me for this, I just had fun messing around with the logo: This isn't a serious mock-up, I just wanted to give the logo a little cartoony; shiny feel.
Not really a logo tweak, more like a 3D interpretation. I use it as my desktop wallpaper on my laptop.
Not bad. It's a little too busy, but otherwise, I like how you're trying to balance out the logo and give it some symmetry.
