Really didn't want to post under my old nick, but may as well throw this up. Maybe just combine old school colour and word mark with modern cuts?

I've always envisioned us taking a lesson in branding from the best marketers in sports ........Nike. I believe we attempted that with the communist "R" logo and "We R red nation" ode to communist China ( no offense, I'm a socialist...let's party) I think one of the most patented moves in basketball is the Dreamshake. Little rural children in Montana making a fadeaway baseline j refer to it as the "dreamshake" We should embrace the fact that the man who perfected this, none other than top three greatest nba championship center Hakeem Olajuwon, is the greatest player our franchise has ever witnessed. A silhouette of the dreamshake could brand us very similarly within the same vain of the Jordan brand. Now I'm horrible @ photoshop but there are many variations of this: gold, red, in front of the Houston skyline, eclipsing a red or gold bball, beside a launching pad blahblahblah ...the possibilities are exponential
This is the perfect marriage of old vs new, in my opinion. It's the best fan-jersey I've seen for the Rockets. As soon as I saw it, it looked right.
I don't know how the Rockets could turn that into a Brand, but Olajuwan would not allow it because of his faith. That's why there is no statue outside of Toyota Center of 'him' but rather his number.
I'm aware of this and I figure a happy medium is the silouette and a percentage of merchandising as a donation to any charity he deems worthy. Perhaps whatever mosque in Jordan he and his wife regularly attends
They're still too plain. We need to go back to the old school uni's that actually had substance to them.
If you look at all the successful retro jersey comebacks of recent memory (Pistons, Jazz, Warriors), they generally are the exact same design, with a slight tweak to the colour to modernize it. I think the Rockets should do this too. Use the EXACT same design as the championship years, but change the mustard yellow to the current silver/grey that has been used during the Yao-era. It wil be retro but very modern with the silver. While everyone sys they love the mustard, I believe it is v ery ugly and is only poipular because of the memories it brings up. If you actuallly look at the colour scheme from a design point of view, it is actually ugly. It's why the new alt uniforms just aren't right. The yellow just makes it looks like McDonald's. So keep the colour scheme, but change design to the chip years.
