Pretty sure we wouldn't be here if all the classified materials taken were Trump's McDonalds orders. I'd take his ass in because **** him, but I'm sure a reasonable professional would just let it be. Considering these aren't his McDonalds orders though, now we have an actual case. @Os Trigonum you obviously feel strongly about the over classification of documents, it isn't the first time i see you post about this, it appears to be IDIOT material for you to discuss. We still caught the mother ****er. Idiot always getting caught red handed. Good luck defense lawyers.
5 hours ago Trump In the Crosshairs https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2023/06/trump-in-the-crosshairs.php excerpt: The special counsel’s hardest task is to try to distinguish what Trump did from what Joe Biden, Mike Pence and many others have done. I take it that the willfulness of Trump’s retaining documents after the National Archives asked for them, along with charges alleging the conspiracy to obstruct justice, making false statements, etc., serve this function. Will it work? I doubt it. I think most people will see no significant difference between Trump’s actions and Biden’s, and will consider this prosecution another manifestation of America’s two-tiered system of justice. They will be right to do so, although Trump’s own stubbornness and poor judgment also distinguish this case from Biden’s or Pence’s. If Trump had been trying to get himself indicted he wouldn’t have done anything differently. In the short term, this indictment will probably help Trump in the national polls. Whether it will help him with voters in Iowa and New Hampshire is a different and more important question. Also, Trump’s legal problems are likely to mount. As I understand it, special counsel Jack Smith is also examining Trump’s role in the January 6 protest. The Democrats would dearly love to bring charges against Trump relating to that event, which goes to the heart of their real objections to Trump in a way that the document case, and the Stormy Daniels prosecution, do not. My guess is that such charges will be forthcoming before long. Trump is also likely to be indicted in connection with his post-election activities in Georgia. I don’t think any of these charges have merit. On the other hand, all of them stem, to one degree or another, from Trump’s poor judgment and personality flaws. Together, they add up to an amount of baggage that many Republican primary voters will consider unacceptable. He is scheduled to go to trial in the New York case at the end of March–the height of the primary season. It may well be that during most of the primaries, Trump will be appealing a criminal conviction and a jail sentence. Democratic voters have an elected a mayor or two from a prison cell, but that may be a bridge too far for Republican presidential primary voters. more at the link
Meanwhile Republicans should stop calling it a weaponization of the DOJ by Democrats and misleading the public into believing in conspiracy theories. It is really harmful to democracy.
Reading the indictment I am struck by the fact that many of the documents he tried to conceal and steal were related to briefings on various foreign countries. He was probably wanting to use that information to coerce them into "business" dealings. This sucker willfully hid these documents from his own lawyers and played a shell game with moving boxes around. Lock him up.
I think that is very damning evidence that wasn't publicly known when I posted yeaterday. Let the wheels turn.
I am sure he feels like a trapped rat at this point. I did not realize the doj had his lawyers testify.....had they quit or something, what about client attorney privilege? The gop pundits can say what they will, they will all back him for the good of the party and maybe they need to think about the interest of the USA over this guy.
Sure, just galling to see concern trolling about what democrats should do better in countering republican attacks on democracy, when the onus should be on republicans to stop attacking democracy.
LOL... even the non-political "Rate My Room" is weighing in on what some call "Bed, Bath, and Beyond Guilty"...
My kid leaves to serve the United States Navy soon. The idea that this mother ****er would put people like him in danger kills me. Lock his ass up. I better never hear anyone again tell me about America First after this ****ing bozo y'all voted for.
My understanding is that there are exceptions to attorney client privilege. One is if you are aware of your client committing or planning a crime which was the exception used here.
Trump behaves like the laws are a joke to be worked around. He is utterly ridiculous. He’s no president.
