We are creating threads to show everyone how Yao Ming feels and what he goes through every night just so no one would call him SOFT again...and ofcourse if we could get a little laugh out of it, its a bonus.
My opinion is that last play, because Brewer was set, was just a good defensive play and anticipation by Ronnie. The other fouls....... I'm usually not one to blame refs but this game was ref badly and they took Yao out of the game.
yep, that pretty much sums it up. yao actually spoke better english than he normally does. i say bravo to yao. looks like he's finally had enough. he, adelman, and the team need all speak up if crap like this happens. i hope stern fines yao another $100k tomorrow.
Talked about this in the other thread... YAO NEEDS TO PURPOSELY GET HIMSELF EJECTED THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS DURING A GAME. its the only way it will be brought to a head. look at yaos rep in the league. nice guy. BIG nice guy. Soft, BIG nice guy. theres almost aq fraternity of young, show off players in the NBA who want to posterize Yao...for SPORT. and yao kinda just 'aw shucks' it through the game. Lately, hes been getting a little pissed. tonite, he looked MAD. Yao gets himself ejected ONE time...dude, it'll be in the top 3 stories on every major sports channel/paper/etc. 'The gentle giant loses his cool!'. In China...dude, it'll be front page news. Then, and only then, will Stern pick up the phone and have a little talk with the refs... $$$= makes the world go 'round... A GOOD coach has already had this discussion with Yao. That said, Im not sure if Adelman has had this discussion with Yao...
haha that one was funny. practicing flops ain't any secret. it's public knowledge in the league that don delson used to do the same thing when coaching the mavs.
Your attempt at humour has failed, miserably I might add. Please stick to your day job and realise you dont have to try hard to let people know who you are.
What was funny? The way he said what he said, or simply what he said? If it's the latter, then I don't see the point of highlighting his accent. If it's the former, then I'm astonished that you aren't used to Yao-talk after 7 years.
I don't think Stern or the league really cares. Yao is punished on a nightly basis by the refs for being tall. This much is obvious. Don't buy the "it's hard to officate Yao because he is so big" line. I could buy that argument if the only problem was the defensive calls against him, but when they call Yao for tickey tack offensive fouls and allow the opposing player to flop, it becomes obvious that the refs have an agenda. JVG was the first to recognize this and when he brought it to Stern's attention, he was threatened with banishment.
I have said it before, Yao should say something like "Maybe the referees are biased against the Chinese".... This would get Stern's attention and he would see $$$$$ going away quickly and sort it out. Yao might get fined but I promise you he would get much better officiating. DD
What he said was funny. I just had his accent in there to show how mad he was. Sorry guys, I went back and read my first post and did realize it didn't sound right. Looked like I was making fun of Yao's accent, but really I was just laughing at the "everytime someone sits on the floor to take a rest, its my foul" part. I sorry.
Can anyone else confirm? This crosses the line of rabid fans to just being stupid human beings. But then again, going to jail is probably a lateral move from hanging around Salt Lake City.
Ppl rumble over the distinct discrepancy between YAO's performance against elite players such as DW and scrubs ... Elite players have the self-esteem not to flop & play dirty like that!
"Nobody roots for Goliath" - Wilt. Yep, that's the ways it is now and has always been. We've got to learn to get over it. We're NEVER gonna get the "easy" (or correct) calls, so we better learn how to beat them without them. It pisses me off, but it isn't gonna change. Even if we petition the league (a la Cuban) it will only work temporarily. Wilt had to deal with it, Dream had to deal with it, Shaq had to deal with it, and now Yao has to deal with it. It's not fair - in fact, it totally sucks, but it's reality and they're not gonna change the way the game is called to pacify Houston - a team in which David Stern has no interest in anyway. I hate to be a conspiratorist, but Stern has been against the Rox since the dismal ratings in the '94 finals and he's tried to find a way to sabotage them at every chance since then (see Drexler's ejection in the '95 playoffs - although it backfired in that series). I hate the way the game is called! I hate that Kobe or LaBron can get ridiculous calls and we can get an honest call save our lives, but the NBA is a business and untill Stern decides to stop playing "Mr. Obama" (stealing from the rich to give to the floppers...I mean loosers... I mean Jazz, uhmmm- I mean poor). We'll never win another Championship unless we learn to how to win w/o the correct calls. At least I still have one hope and that is to do it just like Dream and Co. did 14 years ago (overcoming the fact that Stern AND the Jazz scorekeeper were in cahoots and tried to sabotage our 2nd Championship).
I agree. I have said it many times. Yao doesn't need to call anyone racially biased, but just hints it or implies something like I don't know why I am officiated so differently than other players, on the same court, in the same game or even the same minute. Because I am big? I don't see Shaq or Howard gets called 3 offensive fouls per game over flopping. WHAT ELSE am I so different than every single player in NBA?
David Stern is a joke. During the All-Star game he actually said this is the best referee staff that the NBA has had.
Excuse me? We just lost a hard fought, close "what could have been" game with our bitterest rival and you want us to lighten up? Speak for yourself.
