I'm liking this, I'm sick of hearing that people want stretch 4, guys who can't rebound or defend for sh**. I would like a mid range shot, no need to shoot three's out of the 4 position. Dirk's don't grow on trees and guys the shoot threes at the 4 position stink of being weak defenders (like many of the Euro trash 4's). If the Rockets had a defender like Iggy and Dwight we could afford to have these "stretch" 4s but we don't (Iggy that is). I do like Kevin Love but my god, that guys fat look reminds of Pilsbury. That isn't what I should think of when I look at an NBA player.
Aldridge is more versatile, has a better post up game, can create better, plays better defense and likes Texas.
Do you think Love will return back to form pre injury? His shooting hand hasnt been the same since that injury.
Both are great and would be excellent acquisitions. I like Love because of his superior range and is 3 years younger.
Love is the obvious choice..a stretch 4 that can rebound will work great with howard..wonder if we can trade lin and asik plus picks to minny for love at the trade deadline.....hmm...
Since the Blazers have been balling out of their minds lately, is it safe to say that we are OUT of the LMA race? Looks more and more like Love will be bolting as soon as he gets his chance. Any thoughts?
Whelp, the stat he gets is a stat we need, rebounds. And he provides the stretch attribute y'all so desperately want.
??? LMA has a higher usage rate. he takes more shots per game. He has fewer (meaningfully) assists per game/per36 than Love (and thus a much lower assist %, by almost half... though to be fair LMA also has a lower turnover %). Love also has a meaningfully higher true shooting percentage. He shoots his 2's, 3's and FT's all at a better clip. Point? Well, that your comment is wrong. I think it's clear that LMA has a better post-up game than Love... and potentially better than anyone else in the league about now. Which all comes down to his deadly and incredibly well-times turn around mid range jumper. But in all the clamor of the Blazers start, it's easy to forget that the biggest difference with LMA this year seems to be exactly his usage... or what you would call his "stat-stuffing". Which is up over 2%.. His FG% and TS%'s are the worst of his career. But his rebounding IS up meaningfully, he's been a slightly better passer then he's ever been, and he's having his best defensive year I'd argue, and defensive rating would agree (though Love wins out on that stat as well). His 22.8 PER currently is only slightly better than his previous best for a year of 22.7... which was on a team that went 28-38. But again, his usage is up. Love meanwhile is putting up his best eFG%, his second best TS%, his best 3 point %, his best 2 point %, his second best FT%, his best assist numbers (by far), his best offensive and defensive ratings, his best PER, leads the league in rebounding... all of which are better than LMA's and might have led you to say "stat-stuffing"... except he does it at a lower usage % than LMA, and at better efficiency. Isn't that just being better? The biggest difference between the two is team and circumstance.
