Whoa ...Whoa......HAKEEM WAS A DREAM, he could do it all. Everyone on the list including Yao are just mere mortals.
I was at the first Celtics game this season, when Raef lit us up. Blount actually had a pretty good offensive game against Yao, scoring mostly on open 15 footers (the kind Juwan gets after a kickout). I don't think that's a huge knock on Yao, since those were free shots by design, i.e. it looked like Yao was overplaying on the help defense b/c JVG didn't want Pierce and Davis beating us. I don't believe Yao has problems guarding any centers 1v1 (except maybe Duncan, who is well, Duncan). In the last couple of years he's had good defensive performances on centers ranging from Shaq to Amare (the ultimate smaller athletic center). When the opposing center scores on Yao, its usually after a drive/dish from another player or a rebound/follow. That is, these scores are a combination of our poor perimeter defense, Yao's struggles with coming over for shot-blocking help while simultaneously keeping track of his man (a very difficult task for all but the ultra-athletes like Dream), and JVG's decision to let the opposing center shoot jumpshots (a time-worn strategy).
Perhaps you misread me It was more on the commentary that our guards are matadors and alot of opposing guards are rushing the center position Even Hakeem would have a hard time stemming such a tide [he could but it would be hard even for him] Rocket River
