So yeah, this is pretty much exactly what I would want to see in a Die Hard movie. Willis doing his thing, insanely over the top awesome stunts/action, stupid one liners.

    Fun movie.

Just got back. I thought it was very good. I would rate it on par with Die Hard 3. In my book Die Hard is the best, with Part 3 and 4 coming in second, Part 2 in last place.

The action was fantastic. It took a second or two for the movie to get going but the two hours was a blip. Not a single boring or "fake" looking scene. The language was just as strong as the other movies minus the uckfays and it's variants. Plenty of itshays and bums and water blocking structures.

John MaF*&*ingClane was great. He was more mature and a little less violent, but otherwise just as funny, frustrated, focused and bada$$ as ever. I would also say that some of the supporting actors were good and others were very poor. But I didn't go to this movie to see the Mac kid or Kevin Smith. I went to see Mr. Die Hard. The dude that Jack Bauer, Vic Mackey and Seth Bullock look up to.

Len Wiseman and Bruce "WalterB" Willis did a great job. Hopefully the ticket sales reflect it. 76% fresh over at RT and an A- at Yahoo movies. Not too shabby.

I can't wait for the DVD, hopefully it will have an unrated Director's cut.

absolutely. in my opinion...greatest action movie of all time, and there's not anything approaching a close second.

I'm not a huge action movie fan, but I remember see the original Die Hard in the theater and thinking- Damn!.

The original was the best choreographed action movie I've seen.

I liked it. Fun, brainless action that was well-choreographed.

My only problems with it were the following:

    1. Some of these people are super-human. I'm sorry if you a) get hit by an Explorer and then subsequently you are pinned between a wall and that Explorer, you will not be able to continue fighting because you will be dead.

    2. Thank you ESPN for showing us the entire climatic chase scene Tuesday night during Sportscenter. Appreciate it. God I hate that ****ing network.

maybe there will be an "unrated" version when the DVD comes out?
It's just tough to see John Mcclane(Not to be confused with the great Chronicle writer) in a PG-13 setting.

    believable plot

    believable antagonist

    tight script

    great action sequences

i think die hard transcends the genre.

    portable mini gun?

    automatic grenade launcher?

    transparent alien?

    small nuclear explosion?

predator is a great action movie, no denying it.

just one of many. die hard is something else.

of course we're arguing over subjective tastes, which is utterly awesome. :D

2.5 hrs!?!? Wow, that's a long action flick. I'm surprised by the positive reviews. Seeing how rare I go to movies, I'll go to Transformers and save this one for dvd.

BTW, I'd like to nominate Hard Boiled as one of the best action movies ever. Body count is probably around ~100, and not in a totally unreasonable way. Not to mention it's got the legendary Chow Yun Fat.

Hard Boiled is definitely the best action movie ever made. The last 30 minutes in the hospital is the most intense, ballsiest action sequence I've ever witnessed in a film.

That cliched 'it didn't even seem like XXX hours!' was actually true here for me. Most longer than 2 hour movies I feel it at some point; I can honestly say this one didn't feel like two hours at all.

count-dough-ku, did you really spoil the quote or you're just guessing?!?!?!?
I enjoyed it. I thought the puzzling Simon was just a bit, but I can quote most of the movie. I loved the elevator scene with the russians and the "Hey... what are you doing? A kid might find that..." lines. :)

I will definitely see this one at the movies... maybe next week. Thank you for the reviews.
