No offense if anyone in here is one, but truck drivers in general have been on my last nerve lately. I almost got into two wrecks last week (both wold have been the truck driver's faults) that would have surely killed me. It seems that because they have the biggest vehicle on the road, everyone should get out of their way, and give them every courtesy possible. Some traffic laws are even thrown out the window. They can even pull out into the middle of a busy road, park to unload, and halt traffic!
I understand where you're coming from, but that is exactly why everyone should do exactly that. Those vehicles aren't as easy to control or stop as our little cars. I took a truck driving class a few years ago and it was shocking to experience just what little regared other motorists had for them. Of course, on the other hand, you'd probably also be surprised at the amount of truckers that drive intoxicated or hopped up on some drug (words straight from the instructor's mouth). Makes me thing twice every time I try to pass one.
Well, the reason I said that, was because of the two wrecks I almost got into....allow me to explain. The first one, I was driving to work, going about 40, and all of a sudden, a trucker changes into my lane. Now, this normally isn't a big deal, but the guy changed into my lane and his back end wasn't more than A FOOT in front of my front end. Had he put on his brakes, or I sped up at that instant, I would have been some form of pancake. The other one, I was just driving down a main road, also going about 40, and this trucker just decides he's going to pull out to go opposite my direction. He started to pull out as I was about five feet from him. Even if I were to give him some sort of courtesy (which is too graceful a courtesy, in my opinion), he didn't allow me room to brake. Had I not honked, I would have ran smack into his cab, probably killing myself.
Tow truck drivers are the ones that always almost get me. I have close run ins with several where I was extremely lucky that I didn't end up crushed between a tow truck and a concrete barrier.
Another one that bothers me is assholes that buy huge pickup trucks when they are never going to haul anything. After they get them they drive like idiots, you can't see around them, and anytime you are behind them in a parking lot you are screwed because it takes them 1/2 an hour to perpendicular park. Get a car you ****ing idiot.
People who constantly change lanes in bumper to bumper traffic. It's traffic. There's no special secret lane that no one else knows about. Quit changing lanes. People who follow too closely, then brake, then follow too closely, then brake in traffic. If you would just relax and quit following too closely, you wouldn't have to slam on your brakes every 5 seconds and there would be no traffic. People who act like they've never seen 5 o'clock traffic before. The people that are pulling onto the shoulder so they can see what's going on ahead of them. Uh....hello? It's call rush hour traffic. Google it.
So true! More: Huge trucks with bedcovers. What the hell is the point of that? Huge trucks that are dropped. Yeah - that was a good use of $40,000.00.
Very rarely will someone not let you merge if you are up to speed. However, if you have that much traffic, how big of space will you need to go from 0 to whatever speed the traffic is up to? Unless you have an exotic car, you either have to cut someone off or wait until 2:00am before proceeding.
Houston Drivers piss me off, slow the hell down, your time is not more valuable than anyone else's, i tend to "accidently slip out of my lane" nowadays when someone comes roaring from behind, you should see the looks i get Truck drivers piss me off too, Got involved in a major accident a while back, caused by none other than an 18 wheeler, which smashed into me on the freeway, car completley gone and my spine is prob messed up for the rest of my life I Never, ever drive next to big trucks on the freeway
