debating vs actually putting forth something are completely different things. one is dialogue and the other is an actions.
so basically the author is saying that President Obama is a liar comparable to Bernie Madoff because Obama is trying to pass health reform which will take 3 years to fully take effect?
Lots to talk about in this thread. Here goes: Regarding the original post Comparing Obama to Madoff is pretty low. It's so low that it makes you realize that the writer of this article really is just another conservative prick. Why Obama rushed to get this done Duh! Has anyone been watching what happened???? He knew if he doesn't push this quickly, it's going to get bogged down. He had to get it done before conservatives and industries who have vested interest in seeing reform fail were able to create a mess. Why it will take 2-3 years to take effect Ok, do you think you can create an exchange for health care policies, and a co-op to basically be an issure in a few months? There's a lot of work here to be done after legislation passes. Geez, i mean, it's an entirely new not-for-profit company. All created from scratch. I don't think you can say, hey, let's make this thing start Jan 2010.
Invoking Madoff's name may work for the fringe who are foaming at the mouth. Anyone who gives it 2 seconds of insight will see what a lame gimmick this is. He's lost all credibility to me in the second sentence. And it's funny how he's simultaneously complaining about 'what's the rush' 'why wait for years?'
He never used the word liar in the article. Sometimes editors come up with their own titles, don't they?
that's the point why would they come up with that? they simply wanted to call Obama a liar without no reason?
This is the same guy who compared Obama to Hitler, Stalin, and Alger Hiss. If the editor went a little creative, I don't think the author minded.
It is exactly true, and now he is trying to rush through the bill before the next break and he will continue this until it dies or he succeeds.
That tends to be the way legislation happens. You try to pass it until it passes or fails and noone bothers to reintroduce it.
these articles people are quoting and trying to present as from neutral sources has to stop. It's getting ridiculous. I mean, FoxNews doesn't even cover a Presidential Address to Congress in Primetime. I can't remember in my entire life that happening for a republican president on by the "liberal" media of CNN or the Networks. But for Fox, if it ain't a Republican, then better to show "So you think you can Dance". Conservatives don't respect Obama - they won't give him a chance from the get go. From day 1. To me, I just think now they are irrelevant and no longer are connected to reality or the political process. And that goes for writers of these articles that we see on this thread, and it goes for guys like Odds On and Basso. It's all just programmed computerized thoughtless drivel. It doesn't matter if it's Obama, Clinton, JFK, FDR, or whomever - these guys don't care, so long as it's a dem, it's spew the mindless drivel.
By the way - do you know who is supporting Obama on his efforts??? Read this quote: He has been working on the issue since the 1970s, and admits now that “we probably should have passed the Clinton bill, but it got so politicized.” Want to guess who said that? Why....it was former Senator and Presidential Candidate Bob Dole. Bob Dole knows what to do finally Bob Dole is telling Republicans not to throw in the towel and make health care reform a reality. Oddson, why can't you listen to Bob Dole?
What are you talking about? It was on FoxNews. They did a special panel with Brit Hume to set it up, covered the entire address, then did a panel after it and then O'Reilly came on later in the evening and covered it.
