PR moves are no longer the concerns of the Rockets.

Les Alexander got his Arena. Now much like us going into the stock market, Les is thinking long term. The cost may not look reasonable right now, but that's the way most investments look at the begining. RISK!

Like everyone here, getting Hakeem off the team would be a PR nightmare. But, when you have your Arena in the pocket and some of the most discriminating fans in the league, how worse can it get? The Attendance is pathetic, mind I say Hakeem is still on the team.

The Rockets already have the lowest attendance! I find it hard to beleive that anyone would boycott the Rockets becuase they trade Hakeem!

Houston has always loved winners, much like everyone else, so why mess with that formula?

Vince, didn't you read aelliott's post? Even if it weren't a pr nightmare (and I think it would be), where is the benefit to the Rockets right now?

Are you kidding? Of course PR concerns the Rockets. They have the lowest attendance in the entire NBA and they are still stuck at Compaq Center (a building that costs them more than they make) for another 2 1/2 seasons.

Plus, they still have to pay for the cost of design on the arena and a million other things associated with that arena. Suffice it to say that a PR blunder wouldn't exactly be a good thing for them. It would cost them LOTS of money in lost revenues from ticket sales and advertising.

I do agree that the Rockets are concerned most with the future, but there is a present to deal with as well.

    Ummmmm!!

I've thought about that trade, but why would the Rockets do that?

    Howard is extremly over paid.

I never liked his game in College though he was decent. However there was always a lot of hype surrounding him.

Low and behold his first couple of years in the league Howard impressed everyone. Everyone said that Howard was the most underappriciated player in the league. When he was a free agent, teams came up offering their maximum. Miami almost got him but due to Riley's adding and subtracting handicap, that contract fell through.

Washington kept him, but he was never the same player after that.

But, I don't think that this is a Howard for Hakeem trade! Just don't think it is.

vince, what with howard's life story? i think that 17 pts and 8 rebs a game is pretty good.

Jeff, can it get worse for the Rockets?

Well I assume it can, but fans aren't bitting.

When the Rockets were winning all the girls wanted to talk Rocket ball. My sister knew every player on the team.

I've shown her some of the games with steve, but there is no spark about the Rockets.

People whom I thought were die hard Rocket fans during the championship runs are now cluless about the Rockets.

I don't think that the Attendance can get much worse.

And if the Rockets made an extrad 5 million from Releasing Hakeem, that would pay the costs of the designs, at least a down payment.

Look I'd hate to see hakeem go as much as the next guy, but Hakeem does not want to retire after this season and he adds nothing to this current lineup!!!

What else can I say about how I feel about Hakeem for this team?

I respect Hakeem, but respecting his wishes are as important as trying to force him into retirement as a Rocket! He still wants to play, especially where he can still be let to play!

Well I think that this is Hakeem for Candy man.

Hakeem said he would like to play in L.A. The Clippers want to trade Candy man. The Clippers need leadership more than the Rockets.

Remember, about the Odom and Candy rumors at the beginning of the season!

Candy makes the Rockets younger and he is a decent big man. But my question is Candy another Cato?

Has there been any rumor of Dallas? They are so deep, that the would have a lot to offer. And cap does not apply yo them. I know Cuban will stop a virtually nothing to get the Mavs into the playoffs.

I could think of only one city who needs a center (for a year), and is looking to free up cap space for Webber: Miami

This is the perfect scenario, The Heat need a center for Mourning's absence, Miami is a warm climate city, and Olajuwon is sure to be on the All-Star team in the East.

We need a banger, so naturally, Brian Grant could be an option.

    Here's A Scenario: http://www.realgm.com/tradechecker/checktrade.php?tradeid=59056

Majerle and Mason are free agents next year, so we would still clear $9,603,900 next year.

There's not a sane human alive that has uttered the words "I want to play for the Clippers". When they say "I want to play in L.A." they usually mean the Lakers...

I'd be willing to play for the Clippers. [IMG]

I'd play for the clippers at minimum wage!!

I'd ride the bench the whole year and I'd have a huge grin on my face!!

making 300K minimum salary in the NBA beat my real life salary!!! And I'd enjoy it a ton more than being in an office the entire day!!!

Seriously, Miami makes sense for Hakeem.

Hakeem wants to go to a half court game type of team.

Unless its going to be disclosed that hakeem is going to be named next assistant coach!

But, I think we must think Easter Conference!

I finally figured it out. With Shandon moving to the SF position, that leaves an opening at the SG spot. Because he is so frustrated with losing & is unable to make any moves, JORDAN is going to give up his position with the Wizards & sign on with us to back up the Cat. It all seems so clear now. Clutch was right all along, it's not a trade, it's a deal. [IMG]

Aw maaan! Who put these mushrooms in my pipe?
