More Doc Rocket posts in this thread than he'd made in the last 6 months! So the worm turns, eh? Not necessarily a good "brace yourself"? Confirms what I thought last night, back at the start of page 2. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
Hakeem is dumping the Rockets for another organization?! ------------------ "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Gandhi
the only time I could see it being a "deal" rather than a trade, is a waiving, resigning, IR move, etc. Hmm, I wonder if Bryant Reeves would make an earthquake? I know Thomas Hamilton would. So Doc, which is it-are we breaking up with "her" or is "she" breaking up with us? ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
HMmmmmm. Suppose we anticipate Shandon and Mo´s contract and lock them up for the long run, to a reasonable amount. What that would mean? That we would be able to trade Hakeem WITHOUT any fears of not being able to sign both Shandon and Mo next year. With that "deal" set up, the next logical step would be trading hakeem if that RIGHT deal presented itself (shareef) or just let his contract expire at the end of the year, and seeing what good free agency could to us. This way we would still have a shot at webber, and would have Mo locked up as insurance if that failed. The main problem with trading hakeem is that it may jeopardize our chances of keeping Mo and Shandon. If we took care of that first... CAN we do that first or are we talking about a handshake under the table deal here? And it seems pretty clear: hakeem WANTS out. It´s HIS decision. ------------------ "I have posted so much that what I say must be true" [This message has been edited by Thanos (edited January 15, 2001).]
Well, we all pretty much figure that if it is a trade than Dream will be involved. The question is, is he demanding the trade? ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
Thats what it is. Thats the hint he wants us to have. HAKEEM IS LEAVING. LETS PARTY! ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
Here's a thought... When you think earthquake, you usually think California... ------------------ It doesn't matter if I have a signature!
thanos, someone else used to use that signature... hmmm. The name escapes me. Oh yeah, it was me. Remember that this still can be a trade. Unless I misread Clutch I thought he absolved himself of the situation by saying that Doc Rocket knew a bit more about the 'deal' than he did. Doc Rocket even mentioned the same thing, which I read as taking us back into 'trade' territory. Dawson runs the game. He's not going to just fold and acquire crappy contracts for no reason. If there has to be a resolution, given what we're reading it seems that the scenarios fall within the boundaries: a) Dream is traded and the Rockets improve. b) Noone bites on Dream's contract, so he's bought out. He can then go sign w/ a contender. The Rockets are not put at any risk just to facilitate the wants of the big fella. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
Francis3. Really. Spare us. If you want Hakeem gone THAT bad, fine, it your opinion and you´re allowed to it. But for most of us, no matter WHO we end up getting in the deal, even if it was Webber, Hakeem leaving the team would be a bittersweet experience at best. He is a legend, and he IS the Rockets. He deserves your respect. If you have none for him, at least have respect for the people who mirror the thoughts i am expressing here. Achebe: really? i swear it´s a coincidence. I have grown tired of it anyway, been using it ever since my 100th something post. Funny you didn´t notice that before. ------------------ "I have posted so much that what I say must be true" [This message has been edited by Thanos (edited January 15, 2001).]
Hakeem is leaving (life is but a Dream) and Rodman is signing. Rodman married Carmen Electra (Baywatch) and split up with him (breakup). Plus he played in LA (Earthquake). Surrre ... it all makes since now.... ------------------
Francis3, would you do me a favor and pipe down? We all know you're burning a Hakeem doll in effigy as we speak. But some of us actually respect the man, and take offense at you celebrating Dream's leaving so gleefully. At any rate you've made your wishes clear at least 3 times already in this thread. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
I have respect for him. But trading him wont matter to me in my opinion because he will leave next year anyways. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
With everyone thinking about us getting a shot blocking center, I am suprised no one has mentioned one of the best in the league---Theo Ratliff. He would be an excellent pickup for us because not only can he play D, but he also has a much better post game than Cato and is very athletic. He can run the floor and IMHO he would fit in great with the young team we have now. ------------------ Word to your mother!
Anyone been to NBAtalk today...seems Othella is not happy b/c Swift took his starting spot. Maybe it will be O and SAR after all. I know NBAtalk isn't much of a reliable source, but it came from the Vancouver Sun. http://www.vancouversun.com/newsite/sports-c.html For some reason the link to the full story does not work. ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
Ratliff wont get traded. The 76ers wont mess up the chemistry they have. I dont see them doing any big deals. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris fan club.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Clutch said not neccesarrily a trade. To me, that could mean maybe a trade maybe something else. In any event Doc Rocket implied that it invovled Dream and maybe Shandon. Also that is might not be a mega deal since one apperrently was already pulled off the table by the other club. The Way Shandon is playing now I would hate to loose him. But he is probably the best player we would be willing to part with. I really have nothing else to add...I really just wanted to post in this thread ------------------
I don't seem to recall Doc Rocket mentioning Shandon at all. His post about 'baywatch' seemed to allude to the euphoria of his previous post, as if he were typing in a p*rn site. maybe maybe no. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
I've got it!!!!!!!!! The Rockets will re-sign Pig Miller to yet another 10 day contract ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
I, too, have nothing worth posting. And that never stops me. Apologies first. Speculation now. Still betting on Vancouver. Earthquake? California? Jamison? Shaq? Webber? 3-way trade giving Reef and Big Ass Country to the Lakers for Shaq? I know Kobe won't leave LA. Does anyone else get ESPN the Magazine? Kobe's beloved. Shaq? Loved or well liked. Of the two, in an election, LA would send Shaq out of town. Also, the team's cheap-ass owner might want out from under his contract. No, I don't believe that will happen. Best to let the Lakers implode. But we have two days of worthless posting ahead of us, so I just threw it out there. You can throw it back. If we can trade with Vancouver (and we can), and we wind up dumping our picks for Reef and Othella, then we move Mo elsewhere for his own damned good. Detroit, maybe? Joe Smith acts like he won't stay there. Don't blame him. That team sucks. Olajuwon and Cato for Shaq? There I go again. Why get a dominant center demanding the ball from OUR guards? Er, um....maybe Phoenix realizes it's stuck with Googs and would prefer a center? Big Country played a game the other day that had "see-I-can-play-great-when-motivated-get-me-the-f***-out-of-here" written all over it. Don't Googs and Big Country work straight up? Or one of the older ideas of a 3-way with Chicago? Vancouver burns its fortress down in order to rebuild it? Chicago gets Big Country and Bibby. Houston gets Reef and Othella. Vancouver gets Dream and Walt and Crawford and Fizer and Chicago's, Houston's, Milwaukee's draft picks, giving Detroit the worst draft pick possible among them and grabbing lots of young talent to rebuild as it seeks a new city for the franchise? If I may speak for everyone here: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------
