Here's a list of my top 10 (err, make that 13) movies.... that haven't been listed yet: The Lady Eve - Best screwball comedy of all time. Just the most perfect combination of humor, romance, and sexiness ever put on film. The Apartment - Great film which offers a delicate balance of humor, meloncholy, and enough justified satisfaction without being too sentimental. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - One of the must beautiful movies ever shot. It's got action, scope, subtlety, poetic philosophy and cinematography. The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) - It's got great heist scenes, a delightful cat and mouse storyline, and Rene Russo's boobs. Just an incredibly fun movie all the way around. 40 year old Virgin - Of all the top notch recent comedies (Anchorman, Dodgeball, Harold and Kumar, Wedding Crashers etc.) this is the one I like the most. It does "guy talk" as good as any movie since Swingers. And it does sincerity and pathos without being maudlin or overly sentimental. Rounders - Great movie. It's another one of these "underdog overcoming enormous obstacles and winning out in the end" type flicks, so it's not exactly groundbreaking. It's Rocky with poker. But there's a reason why people keep trying to churn out these storylines. When one of these films is done correctly, it's extremely satisfying. And this movie is more than that. Glengarry Glen Ross - It might have the most impressive combination of writing and acting in movie history. Read that last line again. There's not much more I need to say. Ikiru - Just your run of the mill sad lonely ballad, examining the worth of a man's life, and ultimately how he's able to bring some measure of change and meaning to the world before he passes. So it's basically a deeply moving and uplifting film about the human condition. Nothing special. Say Anything - The best teen movie of the past 20+ years. Smart, quirky, well-observed and genuine. Emma - I was going to put Pride and Prejudice here (the Kiera Knightly version since she's hotness squared) but I went with Emma instead. I prefer (by a whisker) the fun poked at Emma's haughtiness over the straight-forward fiestiness of Elizabeth Bennett. And I enjoy the playful banter between Emma and whatshisname, a bit more than the battle of wills and wits between Elizabeth and the other whatshisname. An Officer and a Gentleman - One of the best feel good movies of the past 25 years. It's got a well done hero's journey and an iconic ending sequence. What's there not to like? Trading Places - First off it's absolutely hilarious. Not to mention that it's keen, sharp observations on class consciousness. And it has a rare climax sequence involving the stock market. So it gets extra cool points for originality. Unfaithfully Yours - I wasn't going to add another Preston Sturges film (he did The Lady Eve), but Unfaithfully Yours is probably the most unknown, under-appreciated gem of all time. Just trust me, if you ever see this movie (the original one with Rex Harrison, not the remake with Dudley Moore) on your channel guide, or video store: watch it, Tivo it, or rent it. You won't be sorry.

You people have got to be kidding. No mentions of Return of the King? The most glorious film ending of all time?
Sorry, but to me The Lord Of The Rings is - first and foremost - a book. I did love the movies (casting was spot-on, sets and locations were fantastic).. it's just that they feel less like movies and more like supplementary material for the book. I dunno, call me purist And by the way, the most glorious film ending of all time is not Frodo and Bilbo's sleep-inducing departure from the Grey Havens.. it's John McClane getting knocked off the wing of a 747, but managing to rip off a fuel tank panel causing the plane to leak a trail of fuel, then waiting till the last possible moment to set it aflame with a lighter, blowing up the terrorist bastards and forming a blazing streak of fire along the ground for the low-on-fuel planes circling overhead (one of which his wife is on) to land by
you wanna talk glorius film endings. what about Daniel Laruso's Willis Reed-esque return from injury to win the all valley tournament.
you can obviously see that the ref was giving the match to daniel. When Mr.Miyagi gave the "okay", the ref just put his whistle in his pocket and his hands behind his back
