Congrats on the MINI. I'm on my second one. I had a 2003 S that was dark silver with a black top. I sold it in a moment of weekness for a Dodge Magnum with the HEMI. Big mistake. I took a loss on the Magnum to get back into a MINI. Now I have a 2005 S Black with a black top. I've always autox'ed with the houston bmw car club (www.houston-bmwcca.com/). I'm currently second in points in my class. I did open track days at Texas World Speeday in my first MINI and that little car would hang with anything in the curves. Great Cars. I love mine. Join us (HMMS). We have rally's, do trackdays, happy hours all sorts of fun stuff.
