Same here. Enjoyed the whole scenario, world and characters more. Maybe because FF7 was placed in such a dark dystopia and focused more on industry, etc.

 

It seemed that 7 had a lot more to "say", whereas 8 had more of a focus on characters and gameplay. Both really great games, though.

 

Some of y'all are letting nostalgia make these list for you... I'm not even sure that there have been 5 "good" consoles.

N64 is severely underrated on here lol

 

I literally did buy mine just to play Halo 2 but then I got hooked on this game called Brute Force lol that was probably crap now that I think about it.

 

N64 had one of the most terrible line-ups though, never seen a console with so few good games.

I loved the Vectrex.

 

I was literally just about to post that.

It had 2 Zeldas, Mario, and Goldeneye, those 4 were all-timers, but that's really it in terms of exclusive.

Playstation had Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Tomb Raider, Castlevania, Resident Evil, 3 Final Fantasy games that were masterpieces to go along with the army of other quality RPG's. Sony completely dominated IMO.

 

All you needed was Ocarina in time, Majoras Mask, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark... Ain't nobody got enough time for much more than that haha

 

And don't forget Smash Bros

i beg to differ. i think its considered one of nintendos consoles with the least amount of games (could be wrong..thought i read that somewhere once) but i thought it had incredible games.

granted thats right in my wheel house as a kid and grew up with N64 but:

goldeneye 007, mario kart, mario tennis, perfect dark, starfox, smash bros, orcarina of time, mario 64.

others i'm sure i'm forgetting...but my goodness. hell i bought a wii u simply for mario kart 8 and new smash coming out this winter.

apparently smash bros has taken off since...i'm just now getting back into nintendo since having been away from nintendo since the N64...but its now a competitive gaming title...like how starcraft and others have. tournaments and stuff. had no idea.
