Yea, part-time efforts in d may be the flaw of Harden's game right now. If he keeps giving part-time efforts in D ....let's say in two years, then I will say I don't like his sloppy D. Because he doesn't improve his weakness. He doesn't need to be Tony Allen. He just needs to show progress and I can live with it~ Sometimes ppl forgets that this team is the youngest team, and treats them like their chance to win champ is this year. They still can improve. As a fan of such a young team, patience ....guys
I don't like his hairstyle. Reminds me of Mr.T too much and makes me miss the A-Team. I also don't like his taste in fashion.
OP is a troll look at his past post. Harden has a lot of improvement to make, he needs to play defense some - he just doesn't do it. The Rox are better with him, but not as much as people think, because he is so lazy on defense. With him, they are more potent on offense but weak on D, without him the opposite. James Harden is a terror on both offense and defense. DD
As much as we hate TMAC for basically quitting on us near the end, he actually completely shutdown Dirk in the 2005 playoffs and STILL averaged like 35 pts per game. Just hoping Harden is taking it easy now and tries more on defense in the playoffs.
Defense. Try. Act like you care. I know you can play defense. He can play defense but doesn't try and for whatever reason, isn't held accountable for it. Van Gundy, Vogel, Thibodeau, Spoelstra, those guys are [probably] on his ass in an instant. Just try a little [more]. Put some effort into it.
I agree. and Harden still doesn't compare to functionally injured T-Mac. A lot of ppl seem to have forgotten how good T-Mac was. We really should have had 2 championships with Yao and T-Mac. What could have been...
I've always found it weird that people expect so much out of Harden's defense. Anyone who has ever watched a OKC game the past 2 years should see that they have very little defensive discipline. The only reason they're not bad at defense is because Scott Brooks put great defensive player(Thabo, Perkins) rather than any defensive philosophy. OKC defense is basically purely reliant on athleticism and skills of their players. The Rockets staff said as much, and said that OKC's defensive methods don't work in Houston because we don't have such personnel.
Expecting sooooooooooooo much out of Harden? Haha wow. Asking for a little effort on defense is too much? Asking to be held accountable, as any other play would, if they didn't play defense is asking too much? Okay then. Trying is start. More effort is a start. No one is asking him to be Tony Allen, Andre Iguodala, Avery Bradley, LeBron James great.
Absolutely. Watching the stream the Denver announcers were disgustingly homer but their was truth to what they were saying. Lin hit some very low % shots to start off with. Harden often plays for calls and reverts to bailouts when he's being iced and he plays matador defense. I was really pissed at Parsons being a mediocre defender for the most part this season but I think that's just primarily a function of being Harden's wing partner. Harden's defense in most games is honestly, some of the worst I have ever seen. The last couple of games that he's come back it's pretty obvious how much he messes up our team defense by almost never being in position. Too much LOF and LOH trash talk happening in here, let's just keep the discussion on point. Harden is our franchise player etc. but y'all are forgetting how dreadful McGrady's motor was on defense and are neglecting the same for Harden right now because he can pump up good numbers because you think it's just LOF talk.
According to 82games.com, through 3/21, opposing SGs have a 14.5PER(slightly below league average) when Harden's on the floor. They shoot an eFG% of .498 against him. For reference, the Rockets give up .504 eFG% as a team. According to basketball-reference, Harden's defensive rating is 106, tied with Lin, Greg Smith, among current rotation players with large quantity of minutes, only worse than Asik(103) and Beverley(105). It's absurd to think Harden should be singled out for a defense where all our players(minus Asik and lesser extent Parsons) are quite below average. Especially since he's by far the most heavily used player on offense.
