AdamSchefter Adam Schefter Filed to ESPN: The Ronnie Brown-to-Detroit was voided because RB Jerome Harrison had health issues. Brown still an Eagle, Harrison a Lion.
goal line situations is what I was referencing to... sure they march down the field with the best of em... but its the problems running the ball in short yardage situations that rears its ugly head... I appreciate the statsyouve supplied but I never disputed the overall rushing numbers.... We have one of the best offenses in the NFL but you cant ignore that we have problems in the red zone...for whatever reason its a problem.... stretch plays and pretty shovel passes again arent gonna get it done against those linemen you mentioned... Find a big package and impose your will...they may be small interior linemen but Im sure they are more than willing to play smash mouth football when at the goal line
I am fascinated by Harrison -- the dude has serious talent, but he must be doing something behind the scenes that coaches hate. I know this is different with some sort of injury, but when Harrison has been given starter level carries he goes off. I believe he has the third highest rushing total for a single game in NFL history (280 yds +).
The Eagles have trouble even in their big packages. The Giants game they gave the ball to Schmidt when they were two or so yards from the end zone and failed. Again, the interior of their line is small, by NFL standards.
Jerome Harrison has a brain tumor. [rQUOTEr]As Philadelphia Eagles doctors were giving newly acquired running back Jerome Harrison his physical, they discovered a brain tumor that nullified a trade with the Detroit Lions, according to two league sources. The trade might have might have actually saved Harrison's life, the sources said. Without the deal being made, Harrison would not have undergone a physical. The tumor is now being treated, according to sources. Harrison could not be reached for comment. Harrison is not expected to play again this season, but his long-term prognosis both for life and his football career appear to be good, sources said. He is visiting with more doctors Thursday. The voided trade has left the Lions with major issues at running back because star running back Jahvid Best the third concussion of his career in last week's loss to San Francisco.[/rQUOTEr] All the best to Jerome.
The proposed trade was a blessing in disguise. If he didn't have that physical he wouldn't have found out about the brain tumor.
do teams not make players get physicals before every season? that is, if you're signed to a multi year term deal, you don't have to take a physical before each season?
Well, now we know what the problem is... seriously though - yeah it's horrible he has a brain tumor, but what a small miracle that he got that trade physical.
Needless to say, all the best to Jerome Harrison. That must have been one in-depth physical to uncover something like that. Perhaps I should have a new appreciation for the "simple" part of every trade in football and basketball that people tend to overlook.
Yeah, they do... "The Lions medical staff did not detect Harrison's tumor before camp three months ago." From Rotoworld.
