A very good Grantland interview with the production crew published today: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...out-their-new-film-taiwan-and-february-4-2012 Some interesting snippets: The mic'd up thing and difference between the D-League and NBA was a mildly interesting datum. So now we know why they needed those kickstarter funds to finish the movie. They needed to pay for the increased licensing fees. I thought the Linsanity crew pursued Kim as a big name draw for the narration, but it turns out it was the other way around. Kim volunteered and reached out first because he wanted to be a part of the project.
how I wish I paid attention in Mandarin class... Can someone translate this, please? Thanks! Jeremy's mom sharing at Taiwan's Linsanity screening, http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2635944589.
Amazon completely pulled their Linsanity listing but it's available on itunes for rent if anyone is interested in watching at home.
I brought my wife and two kids to watch the movie at Dunvale location. Just want to show my support to Lin. The movie itself is pretty decent, and several times I had tears in my eyes.
Jeremy's mom, Shirley, said growing up, Jeremy took lessons in piano, painting, tennis.... His first childhood dream was to play American football. Then when he got his braces he felt that dentists make money easily, so he said he wanted to become a dentist and even took a dental assistance course. In class his teeth were often tapped on for demonstration purpose, so after a while he came home and said he didn't want to be a dentist anymore... His family is really close-knit. Lin's aunt said she cried her eyes out the first time she watched the documentary because she felt that Jeremy's basketball journey was really tough. She didn't dare to phone Shirley when Jeremy was cut by the Rockets, as they had shared many moments of defeated with Jeremy before. Shirley said Jeremy's role model is his older brother Josh. Josh has loved his brother since kindergarten; Josh would bring a candy home to share with Jeremy. When Jeremy was going through a tough time, Josh wrote a very very long letter to Jeremy. Someone in the audience asked Shirley what happens when she and Jeremy have different opinions on something. Shirley said they often have heated conversation. In the past she would try to convince Jeremy. Later on, Jeremy read the bible a lot. Now Jeremy would shut her up with bible quotes XDDD I didn't translate the rest as it was the poster's thoughts on the documentary.
Awww...thanks for sharing....can't wait for my turn to get teary eyed... I really want this movie to be viewed by many, not for box office (financial) success, but because it can help people - give them hope and inspiration. Sometimes that's all we need to keep moving on.
THANK YOU! Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Love Mama Lin's and the aunt's perspectives.
Wow that's the showing i was at. Didn't even know. He must have enjoyed the round of applause at the end. Was that popcorn free for everyone? Stupid kid who worked up front said it was only if you were with lin. I assumed he was talking about his fan club or something
Just rented it on iTunes. Good movie overall. I think it could have been done better from a film making standpoint, but it was enjoyable to watch. I love a good underdog story.
hahaha, Google is your best friend! http://translate.google.com/transla...e=UTF-8&u=http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2635944589
http://www.houstonpress.com/2013-10-03/film/linsanity/ Here's an interest review on Linsanity from a Houston press. I've seen the film and although I understand that the religious aspect could be overwhelming to some people it makes no sense to have it be a topic of investigation in the film, as the author critiqued should've happened. Also, I didn't realize being "positive" was so dull to some people.
