anybody notice that there may be something brewing between the coaches and lin? after the dallas game, lin indicates he should have played more. after the spurs game, mchale emphasizes lin's mistake at the end of regulation. today, after practice, lin again mentions how he was restricted minutes in the dallas game. what do you guys think?
LOL. There are a lot of factors that go into this though. McHale left for a while so then Sampson did stuff his way. Now McHale is back & he is going to do stuff his way. Also in those first two games Lin & Harden were just playing off of high BBIQ & instinct & the team hadn't been fully scouted yet. You have to wonder though how sustainable a team can be if guys are just playing off of instinct as opposed to in a structured offense. Also the fastest way to get Harden familiar with his teammates was by instituting plays. Just a few thoughts.
The Lakers need a pg and the Rockets need a pg who can stand around in the corner and shots 3's right. Lets trade. Give Lin to the Lakers and we ship to the Rockets Duhan and Norris or Blake. Or for Gasol.
I have registered in forun to say that last year called "Lin Effect" Novak, Fields, Jeffries, Chandler ... Lin made they all very best Before Lin, Tyson Chandler was very bad as the worst contract of the year and then we all know how it ended his season. Best Defense.
I think the Lakers would love that. Lin has much more potential than those guys. Harden and Lin just need some time together and they could be a great backcourt. Against Utah they played very well together - they actually let Lin play PG most of the game. Probably because of the disastrous OKC game where Harden shot 3-19. James has to realize against teams with better defenders to shoot less and pass more.
The Rockets need a PG that can be a playmaker and shoot threes. It is far easier teaching a playmaker to shoot than a shooter to make plays. Lin isn't going anywhere.
I think you are seeing something where there is absolutely nothing. Why would Lin have more success playing alongside Kobe in comparison to James Harden. This Lin to LA nonsense needs to stop.
McHale is a good talker and a bad coach. Send him to a desk job and leave the coaching to a real coach. How many of you would like to see a Don Nelson coached Rocket team for this squad?
Perhaps the bigger picture after Lin's 38pts is that he has FINALLY stepped up to the plate. I cannot blame anyone whether it be the coaches, teammates or worldwide fans and media for their skepticism and disappointment thus far this season. Not even the fact that harden was not playing. I think most agree that Lin's issues within himself have hurt him and his team the most. Granted, he is under a TON of pressure from EVERYONE to perform. Yes, we all know about his ailing knee. But, the Rockets and Lin needed just this type of game where he was forced into the limelight to light that much needed and missed fire under him. I will bet $$$ that Harden is the happiest camper on the rockets right now. Finally he can work with and off of Lin the way he probably hoped to since the first two games of the season. And maybe get some bench time for a breather now and then.
out of all people it was mr. tony parker, the noted LOF, who said it best..."he just needs to learn how to pick his spots" It's what harden and lin have to learn together, picking their spots.
Yeah pretty much. Also needs to keep being aggressive even though his shots aren't falling, although it would help if his shots fell.
Explains why Lowry and Dragic wanted out. Both are playmakers and a McHale/Sampson offense wants a spot-up shooter at PG. Toney Douglas must love being here.
I'm sorry but the coaches are partly to blame. Lin was playing aggresive and well against Dallas and played only 18 minutes. That wasn't the first time he was benched when playing well. Sends the wrong message and hurts confidence. I yhink Lin finally said FU to them and stepped up.
So wait. In the Dallas game, Lin was being aggressive and stepping up to the plate. He had 4 points in the first 2.5 minutes of the game and went 2-3 from the three line. And yet, he was still benched completely in the 2Q and 4Q for being aggressive and looking for his shot? To me, it's all the coaches fault. They love Harden. And if you can't play with Harden (meaning be a spot-up shooter), then you're not going to play.
Well if Mchale and the staff keep using Lin the wrong way and keep benching Lin, why not LA. Lin is not a spot up 3 shooter. Lin can reunite with D'antoni and the ball be in Lin hands more alley oops all day with Dwight and a better offense system then just stand around in the corner to shoot 3's. Lin can learn from nash and kobe. Kobe at the stage he can't do it all anymore, Lin can set up kobe. In a year or 2 kobe retired.. The Rockets management wasnt that highly on Lin in the first place. but I know Les Alexander won't let Lin go because he's the one that pushes to sign Lin.
Um... I respectfully disagree. Lin's definitely responsible for his shooting struggle, but other than that the coaching staff needs to shoulder some responsibilities for not playing him to his strength. Lin is a PG, expects to be a PG, and has played as a PG in preseason. Then all of a sudden, he is shoved into the SG/spot-up shooter role. Learning to play off the ball definitely benefits both the team and Lin's personal growth in the long run, but if you want him to learn to play a different position, you need to give him lots of time to learn and adjust. Imagine if Asik were all of a sudden asked to shoot mid-range jumpers a-la-Time-Duncan on a night-in-night-out basis. He would likely struggle badly. Would you then blame him for not performing to expectation?
Yeah why kyle lowry wanted out. I also have notice the rockets offense have nothing creative like drawing an easy plays alley oops to parson or 2patt or morris for an easy basket at all. .
I agree completely. U just can't say the coaches had absolutely nothing to do with his struggles. His benching in the Portland and Dallas game, and limited minutes in the Detroit game early in the season were completely illogical. There was clearly a certain level of disrespect there and I hope they still are not stubborn (or maybe stupid) enough not to see his potential after the last game. For him not only to go off the way he did while getting other players involved (asik with his clear high) shows what kind of impact Jeremy has beyond getting his "stats". He also did this on two different teams! I'm glad morey provided further perspective on his accomplishments last night on twitter and hope that they have a new faith in their young pg.
Yes in the preseason games while kmart was here Lin was being use as pg, I can remember Lin had like 6 assists by halftime, and one game Lin had like 12 assists in the game. When Harden got here Lin has been use as a corner spot up shooter.
