Okay dude, here are a bunch of players that averaged less than 40% from the field for entire seasons (50+ games) and made more than Lin's $8.3 million: Code: NAME SEASON FG% SALARY Gilbert Arenas 2003-04 0.392 $8,536,000 Gilbert Arenas 2010-11 0.366 $17,730,694 Baron Davis 2003-04 0.395 $10,960,000 Baron Davis 2005-06 0.389 $13,700,000 Baron Davis 2008-09 0.370 $11,250,000 Tim Hardaway 2000-01 0.392 $12,000,000 Larry Hughes 2006-07 0.400 $13,363,012 Larry Hughes 2007-08 0.381 $12,000,084 Allen Iverson 2001-02 0.398 $11,250,000 Jason Kidd 2001-02 0.391 $8,447,500 Jason Kidd 2003-04 0.384 $13,152,000 Jason Kidd 2004-05 0.398 $14,796,000 Jason Kidd 2007-08 0.385 $19,728,000 Quentin Richardson 2008-09 0.393 $8,685,500 Clifford Robinson 2002-03 0.398 $8,421,875 Damon Stoudamire 1998-99 0.396 $9,000,000 Nick Van Exel 2004-05 0.381 $11,933,252 Antoine Walker 2001-02 0.394 $11,250,000 Antoine Walker 2002-03 0.388 $12,375,000 Jason Williams 2007-08 0.384 $8,937,500 Mo Williams 2010-11 0.399 $9,300,000
Is Lin can go 4/10 every game with a 1/3 from downtown and a few trips to the line - I would be happy. 40% for a high volume chucker like Gilbert Arenas is one thing. 40% for a low-volume guy like Lin (at least so far this year) - doesn't really matter as much. That being said, he definitely needs to hit more of his open shots.
Is this the most overrated players of the decade minus Kidd list? I think Lin will finish the year shooting better than 40% btw. You make a fair point.
Not sure how cap/salary inflation looks like over time - but Lin's 8.3 this year could be a lot less than 8.3 in some of the above years.
Hmm excuse me Baron Davs & AI weren't overrated. Baron was nasty when he was young. That dunk on kirelenko & the full court game winner. He was so much fun to watch.
No, it's just like everybody else, give him some time. This is a new team and all of the players are going to take time to get used to playing with each other. I'm surprised that they are coming together as fast as they have. Lets see where we are at towards the end of the season. You can see right now that our defense isn't as good as it should be and I think that has more to do with getting used to playing with each other and learning the system than individual play.
Ha! Linsanity, the documentary, is going to be shown at Sundance! http://blog.angryasianman.com/2012/12/linsanity-documentary-makes-2013.html (I know the Rockets "real fans" or whatever they call themselves don't care to know or hear anything about his time as a Knick....but the film's been in the works for a while so maybe his first go round with the Rockets will be featured too. :grin
The film maker is Lin's lontime friend who was an assistant on the Fast & Furious movie. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1456609/news#ni25949780

Woo, exciting stuff. Lennox is a boss at making highlight vids. My favorite is #9, the wrap around to Asik.
Agree Baron in his prime. Who is AI, Iverson? Also Arenas before the gun incident was the **** - scored bunches from everywhere on the court.
