You're a real rockets fan and Nba fan unlike many on this thread. They can't touch you in hoops knowledge. Pryuens haircut post was better than any of the newbs posts unfortunately
I support linsanity 2.0 totally. somebody has to stand up and defend for Lin. I saw lots of so-called rockets fan cry for Gigi and Lowry as if they left because of Lin and keep bashing Lin. If you are true rockets fan, what you should do is supportting Lin now unconditionally because Lin is one of rockets players now.
The Dragic comparisons are very fair game. Dragic has his own fans here. There is a perception the Rockets pushed Dragic out the door by being a hard-ass with him, ending up paying a clearly inferior Lin more money than they could have paid Dragic had they made him feel wanted.
I know I find some hypocritics when they keep screaming they are "true" Rockets fans when they don't even support a Rocket's player, but just keep whining how they miss old players.
The same dragic who averaged 11 ppg last season? The same dragic who has a career scoring average of 8 ppg over 4+ seasons? Lin meanwhile, completely torched the league and set nba records for his first few 5 starts: "Lin’s 27 points against the Raptors Tuesday night was easily enough to pass Shaquille O’Neal for the most points scored in the first five starts of a career. Shaq’s long standing record of 129 points was no match for Lin’s 136." "In the last six games, Lin is averaging 26.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 51.7 percent from the field in 39.6 minutes." http://www.rantsports.com/nba/2012/...aks-shaquille-o’neal-nba-record-among-others/ The point is, Lin has shown extra-ordinary promise at a younger age than dragic. When you add his charisma and marketing potential, it was a no-brainer to sign him. And don't give me this 'lots of players have had good streaks' crap. NO ONE in NBA history has duplicated what Lin accomplished last season. Which is why you never see Lowry or Dragic being mentioned as players who broke an NBA record that stood for 20 years, because they didn't.
Since LOF all come to clutchfans site, should Dragic only fans look for Phoenix sun's site and not cry here?
Also, Lin is one of only 15 players IN NBA HISTORY to record 20 pts, 7 assists, and a steal in 6 consecutive games. Here are the others: Allen Iverson, Alvin Robertson, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, Fat Lever, Gary Payton, Grant Hill, Isiah Thomas, Kevin Johnson, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Michael Adams, Michael Jordan and Tim Hardaway. http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2012/2/16/2800502/jeremy-lin-new-york-knicks-stats-record-history Notice that dragic and lowry aren't on that list. Notice also that just about every player who made that list is a bona fide superstar. Fat Lever wasn't a superstar, but it's noteworthy that in his peak he averaged 19 ppg, 7.5 apg, 2.5 spg, and nearly NINE rebounds a game over a four year stretch. He made the all nba team 2nd team, all nba defensive team 2nd team and was a 2X all star. Michael Adams wasn't a superstar, but in his peak season, he averaged a crazy 26.5 ppg and 10.5 apg. Put all other considerations aside; when you look solely at the way Lin has started his career, there are very few players who have gotten out of the gates as quickly as Lin has. And every other player who did either became a breakout superstar, or AT THE VERY LEAST had anywhere from 1-4 seasons of unbelievable productivity.
Who cares. Its all about what he's doing now, and I don't see anything close to Superstar or even star production from him right now.
That doesn't make any sense. Houston Basketball is more relevant now than the Yao era even though we are in the lottery. I don't believe a word of your bull crap. Yao didn't impress you, but Harden is somehow the next Hakeem, I don't believe a word of your crap.
It's 3 games in, and Lin is coming off knee surgery. He's obviously very rusty. Nonetheless, he's averaging 15 points, nearly 6 rebounds, over 7 assists, over 2 steals and is shooting 92% from the line. This is close to an all star level and we are all well aware that he is nowhere near as good now as he's going to be in a few months. Again, this is with Lin rusty, shooting poorly, not in game shape, playing with his 3rd head coach in less than ten months, and with maybe 2 practices with his backcourt teammate.
Yao's Asian, so he's unimpressive, but Hakeem's African, so he is impressive. Never mind that Yao was on pace for an mvp season averaging 25 ppg, 9 rpg, 2 bpg, on 52% shooting, and 86% from the line. That's completely unimpressive.
Preacher on Brother.... You hit the nail on the head.. I'm really hoping that we don't have the same issues that we had in the past with Yao and McGrady.. T_Man
You know nothing about basketball. Hakeem is far better than any center of any race on this planet or other planets.
Let's see...the greatest center of the modern era, renowned the world over for his impeccable footwork and post moves VS. a 7'6" man who shot 5-foot jumpers over people. Clearly they are in the same category and anyone who says otherwise is being a racism.
The same should apply to any player on the team. Lin has a lot of upside to him too. We will see how that works out.
Yao was an incredibly dull player to watch, irrespective of his race. Players like Rik Smits were the same way. Jump shots on a 7 1/2 foot frame. Tippie toe dunks. It's garbage, from an entertainment standpoint.
